Because we made them taste that way? Human health isn't first on the minds of food companies; only consumption rate, which is proportional to our enjoyment of the food, not how much we need whatever nutrients are in it. And if they spent their resouces making the food tasty AND making it healthy, demand for it would only go up a little more because of the healthiness factor, because most people just don't give a hoot about whether it's good for them or not.
Before we processed them, healthy foods WERE tasty. You know that saying, "An apple a day keeps the doctor away"? And that citrus fruits can cure scurvy? And, call me weird, but I think fresh string beans (they're healthiest and tastiest when they're fresh off the vine) are some of the finest foods on the face of the earth, and second only to early morning-picked raspberries as a summer treat. If they were available as often as check-out line chocolates and treats, I'd take them every time. And you WOULD call these healthy foods all-around better-tasting, IF the candy bars and pastries didn't exist. They were created delicious and healthy in the first place.
Keep in mind, just because something's fatty, that doesn't mean it's unhealthy. I point to avacados, high in fat, and at least once named healthiest veggie/food by Guinness*, as an example. It really depends, doesn't it? If you're trying to survive, high-calorie foods (I believe you'll recognize these as the good-tasting foods) are healthy for you. But if you're overweight, you'll want to go for the cardboard-dry health foods and skim milk, won't ya? So, do the healthy foods taste good, or bad now?

they don't really-you just need to train yourself to like the healthy ones better-like i think that fresh fruit tastes so much better than a bag of greasy, over-salted chips that have been sitting on a store shelf for who knows how long!

fatty foods do not taste better. it is all in your mind.
i would rather eat a bowl of string beans than a bowl of french fries. not only are string beans healthier but they are much more tasty. it is all a matter of preference

That's the downfall....You just have to train yourself to eat what makes you feel better after you eat.
When I got to be in my forties.... I started noticing that after I eat good fattening foods........I didn't feel so well afterward....Now I tend to concentrate on how I am going to feel....hours after I eat....I have never felt sick eating healthy food...When I eat filling....good tasting food...I tend to feel full....bloated...and kind of achy.....just not good.
Good, fattening food is only here to temp you.

Doesn't it just suck that no matter how much low fat yogurt you eat it will never equal a pint of Ben and Jerry's.
