Not sure about the rest of the country, but liquor stores in the province of Quebec are controlled by the government.

Beer and wine may be sold at corner stores and grocery stores. However, any hard drinks (vodka, whiskey, rum, etc) must be purchased at a local SAQ store (which is the Societe des Alcools du Quebec).

Perhaps you can clarify your question. What part of Canada are you in and why is it important who owns the store? Did they close a liquor store near your home and are trying to find another, or are you boycotting a particular company? This would help us give you a more precise answer.
