im really confused. im 18 and considering going to nursing school. im in a two-year college right now, but have not yet taken the exam to get into the nursing program which will take two years. if i get in, ill spend three years at the colllege. this made me think i might as well transfer to a 4 year college for BSN. but im really confused....which 'route' would i take?????

The hospital, or more specifically the floor, that my wife works on (pediatric oncology) there is a movement by the head of that department to get rid of all RN's that aren't also BSN's. From what I hear from her, LPN's are on their way out and RN's will probably follow as the roles of the nurse take on more responsiblity.

The biggest difference is the pay..BSN's can be in management position, teach, etc. If you R not interested in management I would stay in my 2 year program..I have never heard of a 2 year program taking 3 years but In that case, you might want to consider spending one more year and getting that BSN..you could make a lot more money...You will be able to get a job anywhere with either degree...It just matters what you want to do and if you have the money for that extra year, etc.. Can you get into the BSN program..you would hate to transfer and then find out the program is full.
