It depends on the country. For example, one is allow to get married at age 16 in US and Canada then you should start dating at around that age. It makes sense doesn't it?

I'll think you have to let nature take it course, seen like you are in a rush for a relationship ? Never set "what age" is allowed or recommended for dating. Should you cornered me for that answer, then I'll said most suitable age is "25+". Why ? because you have a good set up of education and career at that age. Below this age (25+) then good luck to you because many family tragedy happened around young age relationship.

TOTALLY depends. I would consider your child's personality, track record, and motives for spending time with this "date". Also, I would consider these same factors in regards to the person who they want to date. I wouldn't give in too easily to handing over that kind of responsibility until I had confidence in my child's ability to set limits for themself as an individual...in other words I'd need to see signs that my child had the maturity level to keep themself safe. Could be as young as 15...may not be until they are shipped off to college. Who knows. Also, depends on the parent and the family's values.

I was sixteen, when i was allowed to date and then it was double dating. Sixteen sounds good, because younger wants to think they are mature enough to date. Was allowed to single date when i was eighteen. Knew more then about boys and a lot more mature.

It is not when but whether the parents have enough trust and confidence to let their kids on single dates.

I have a daughter, and although it has not come up yet, I will put it off as long as I can. That scares the fire out of me as a mother.
I think 16-17 is normal though.

dating, when your gut feeling is that they are ready. In a relationship, fairly young around 13, because it is good for your child to get in the habit of learning to maintain a healthy happy marriage in the future, because he/she is going to have experience young at maintaining relationships, ultimatly, making his/her life less stressful. give them some freedom, watch the limits.
