they ARE trying to establish dominance. this happens when dogs hump people as well. one of your dogs is just trying to show its dominance to the other. a way to break this would be to be calm and assertive. stand over the dogs and say 'no' or 'stop' or whatever sound you can use when they display this behavior. this shows that you are the dominant one in the house not either of them. it breaks their fixation on humping each other. you would need to do this consistantly each time.
hope this helps!

RE:
Why do my two female dachshunds hump each other?
There are no other pets in the house. They are not related. Is this normal, could it be establishing dominance? I'm trying to be serious; so please, don't tell me they're gay.

Your right it is about dominance...
I had a gay dog. He was a good dog, but he liked to steal
things from all the boarders on our ranch.
Years later we found the items, boots, hoof picks, wallet,
towels, keys, I guess he was just a thief at heart. He hid
everything in an old storage room, behind an old mattress.
It looked like he had built a two bedroom apartment there.
Dogs can be a little strange....and secretive.

Yes, they are establishing Dominance. It's perfectly normal, but it's hard to break. Don't let them do it, or they may start annoying you. Distract them, give them their toys to play with. Good Luck.

There not gay, my dachshund doesn't do this though. Good tip is to distract them but make sure it doesn't look like you are rewarding them

It is most probably a dominance thing, are they the same age or are different ages.
Either way i would deffo say it was something to do with dominance.

It's usually not of a sexual nature. It is establishing dominance.

it's not always about trying to estabilish dominance. and while it is normal, it's not very common. and according to my vet, smaller dogs are more prone to then are larger dogs. it's just one of their quirks. i wouldn't worry too much about it. and if you are, a quick call to the vet's office should help ease your mind :)
