I HERE YOU!!! HERE READ THIS IT cAN HELP YOU MAYBE YOU CAN CHANGE YOUR MIND ON STRAIGHTENING OR EVEN CHANGE YOUR METHOD TO MINE!!!
PLEASE READ ALL THIS INFO IT IS ALL MY OWN WORDS AND I HAVE GONE THROUGH THE SAME PROBLEMS! PLEASE LOOK AT THIS AND READ IT THROUGHLY!
Straightening: Well I bought a Conair for $36 Last year year for x-mas it works really good ( called the infiniti it is ceramic and has ion technology ). I am planing on getting a new one soon maybe a month or two. If you plan on straightening make sure to clean it off every time BEFORE & AFTER you use it with warm water and a paper towel. ( reduces static ) I would also recommend getting a new hair cut or trim to make your ends nice and even; having your ends / layers nice and even helps the actual effect of you straightening therefore it looks a lot better. Straightening comes with the disadvantage of spending 45 mins. to maybe and 1 and a 1/2 hours to straighten ( DEPENDS ON YOUR METHOD IT TAKES ME 23 EXACT MINUTES! )
MY METHOD: " Turn on you straightener and while allowing it to heat up take the top part of your hair ( on the top of your head) and put it a bun ( on the top of your head ). NEXT take a piece of hair maybe 1 and a half inch wide ( depending on the size of your straightener )NEXT take your FULLY HEATED straightener and bring to the top strand of hair squeeze together and bring down very slowly BUT at any costs do not stop keep a SMOOTH motion. NEXT finish the gliding of the straightener and when you take it off you should see steam. if you dont try it again or you straightener may not be fully heated ( allow more heating time.)NEXT do all strands UNTIED ONES. THEN when finished and satisfied take another hair-tie and tie it back ( loosely! so you dont CRIMP your straightened hair. NEXT take out the bun and straighten that hair the same way. UNTIL you get to the back part of your head then untie the ALREADY straightened hair and finish. FOR BETTER RESULTS STRAIGHTEN THE REST ALL TOGETHER AFTERWARDS AND COMB ONLY BRUSHING MAYCAUSE STATIC!
HEAT PROTECTANT SPRAYS FOR STRAIGHTENING DO NOT WORK DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY AS LONG AS YOU CLEAN IT LIKE I SAID YOU WILL NOT HAVE A PROBLEM!!!
Chemiclly Straightening:
I do not actually recommend chemial straightening cause it ruins a lot of people's hair. I know a friend who payed $260 do get hers done but it is fine, and it is undamaged. Un-like straightening you dont have to do anything to your hair besides wash it and go in every so often to get it re-done. But this also comes with a dis-advantage it is permenantly straightened until chemicals wearoff; you could have it permenantly, ( be careful and have a well trusted profession do this you could ruin your hair for life!!! )
straightening sprays / creams:
I think both of these are a total rip-offI have tried to use them before I spent $120 on a 6ounce bottle!!! and it was a TOTAL waste!

Get a hair straightener called a CHI. Yes, they are expensive. Usually the are over $115, but this week at Target, they are on sale for a mere $75. Once you've used it, you'll be hooked. My hair looks like i got a perm if I don't straighten it, and afterwards, people are amazed that I even have curly, wavy, and frizzy hair because the CHI works so well. I'd definitely recommend this..
If money is an issue, don't blow dry your hair, or let it dry down. Put it in a ponytail and let it dry. I can guarantee its your straightener that is the issue here.
I hope you have good luck!

I used to have a BIG problem with poofy hair and then finally when I got to college it died down. I started using Herbal Essences for colored / permed / or dry hair shampoo and conditioner. It's helped alot, I also don't dry my hair on very high heat. I usually dry my hair on low. Also, it might help not to wash your hair everyday, it's okay to get it wet in the shower, just use shampoo and conditioner every other day and that helps too. I did that for a while and it made my hair less frizzy and a lot healthier looking.

GRRL!!! Stop straightening your hair!!! You know how many people crave texture and volume? First you can wet set anything! Wet your hair and use some gel to brush it back for a brilliant up do. And don't forget that pompadour is in, so instead of having a flat ponytail you can be super cute with a curly, untamed afro puff!!! Or you can pin it to the side with the wet and gel method and get the sidefall of everyone's dreams. Don't forget the 80s' are back and big hair is sexier than ever. So go ahead and make everyone JEALOUS!!!

There used to be a product out there called VO-5 hair dressing. Some people used it to an extreme and it looked greasy and nasty. But if you only used a little itty bitty bit, it unfrizzed your hair and made it managable. Just a bit about the size of a nickel--put it in the palm of you hand, rub your palms together and smooth your hair down with it.
If you can't find it by that brand name, I am sure there is another similar product on the market. It really does work well as long as you don't use too much.

Do you put any products in your hair to aid you in straightening your hair? You obviously don't need a shampoo or conditioner that adds volume to your hair, so I would avoid those. Go and find hair products that assist in the straightening of hair, gels, sprays, etc. If you are trying to straighten you hair without putting something in your hair to help keep it straight, it will go back to its natural state, which is wavy and poofy. Nexxus makes some good products, as well as Pantene and Neutrogena.

Try a straightening balm, I like Redken's. You could also wrap you hair, like as in ethnic hair! Start with a part and smooth around past the ear to the nape and up the other side. Wrap with scarf or hold in place with bobbi pens and let dry over night. Also it is very important to use a professional moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. For a few extra dollars you will get much better results.

hopefully you are using your iron on not to hot of a setting and you are using heat protecting products. you could be frying your hair which will cause you hair to become dry and bittle causing you to break the hair shaft from so much straighting try using a straightning shampoo and conditioner. once a week also use a deep reconstructoring conditoner try purology and rusk also has a spray for your flat iron or blowdry habits that will help protect you hair while your straighting.

Try Redken Smooth Down Heat Glide or Citre Shine Miracle polishing serum after shampooing and while your hair is still wet and comb through so that it is even throughout all you hair. Also Thermasilk conditioner is very good.

Try changing your shampoo. Suave coconut shampoo and conditioner works very well and so does sunsilk antifriz. My daughter has the same problem and both work just as well. Also do not brush your hair when it is wet, use a wide tooth comb.
