make some predictions and put them with people who can testify you told them about some thing before it happened
prophesy is not a destination its a a state of mind knowing ,whats going to happen if someone does some thing
theres no proffit in being a prophet ,if you get it right they have to shut you down
you dont know who they are till then ,but if you were a true prophet you could have foretold it
knowing it would happen thus you didnt,
thats the beginning of wisdom, a dumb prophet is a danger to every one
no one likes a know it all
thus most of the true prophets keep a low prophile,
the squeaky wheel gets greased
knowing is a burden ,thats why people choose not to know
knowing everything lets you fill in the gaps ,so for who ,to achieve what?

Deuteronomy 18:22 When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.

I would say it's both a gift to seek for and a calling or annointing the purpose of which is to edify the church, reveal and reprove sin, and to warn people of what choices to make if they want the Spirit of God not to leave their assemblies or an individual to meet with a judgment from God. I agree with prayer as how to seek spiritual gifts. No gifts are any good without charity which we are told to seek the most.

if you wanted to be a prophet, you would have to work hard for humanity for the next several reincarnations, and then, after much labor, maybe you'd be one.
if you want to fool the masses and get your own holy book and religious sect and everything, all you really have to do is be a convincing actor and hire a professional to take care of the smoke and mirrors.

you cannot choose to become a prophet. God chooses you to prophesy.
