Just wondering if any moms had GBS and decided to opt out of receiving antibiotics for any reason? How was the baby's health after birth?

I never said that I was GBS positive. I am pregnant, but just wondering about mothers who opt out of getting the meds.

Please take the antibiotics. Strep can kill a newborn. I have seen it happen. I am an R. N. with more than 20 yrs exp. in the Intensive care nsy. I have seen newborns whose mothers were not treated for their positive Beta strep. Babies, seriously, can die of this. Sometimes do not show symptoms til 3 or 4 days of life...after they go home. Come back to hospital extremely ill. if they live, often have brain damage. Take the meds.

I don't suggest it. My sister almost died because of swallowing the infected fluid(they didn't know my mother was GBS positive) It can not only cause blindness, etc. But my sister's lungs didn't open after delivery because of it. It caused the blood passage between the lungs and heart not to open, her lungs tried to act as if she were still in utero....and she had to be in an incubator for 3 months.....I, too am GBS positive....and you better believe with all of my pregnancies I got the full two bags of iv antibiotics that is required(to ensure that baby won't be harmed from the GbS) before I delivered. Personally, I wouldn't think it was fair to any baby to not get the antibiotics... GOD forbid they got sick or worse, because of a mother's selfish decision to not get the treatment if possible...

No, I took the antibiotics, and I have four healthy kids. Take the drugs, the worst that can happen to YOU is you get a yeast infection. Your baby could DIE.

Why take the chance, for the baby's health?
Strep can damage one's heart.
