It's your word against theirs. Unless a cop hears you say the lie, then no.
**Again- where is the probable cause in this? A guy (A)tells some other guy (B), and he is lying! There are no witnesses, no police on the scene. So if (B) guy tells the police this...Where is proof it ever happened at all???? How can he be arrested?

It is a crime, and you don't have to put on a uniform or flash a badge. All you have to do is say you are a police officer.
If you do it for some type of gain, it is a felony.

No..You have to be impersonating a Police Officer, usually with some type of equipment (badge, gun, jacket, etc.) AND be trying to gain something from it, (robbery, rape, etc.) Although getting dressed up for Halloween may get you shot, it is not impersonating a Police Officer. Good Queston.

Anyone can say the are a cop,and say it to anyone they want, until you flash a badge then it is impersonation.I asked the cops,had a ****** tell me he was a cop and pulled a gun out and put it on his seat next to him.All over some Ho,I laughed in his face..jerk.

Yes, it is a crime (mostly a misdemeanor with a hefty fine of about $1000) and yes, you can be arrested. I have had a personal encounter with this same situation.
