G'day Andigurl,
Thank you for your question.
The Holocaust ended with the defeat of Nazi Germany in 1945. By that stage, all the camps had been captured and the prisoners had been rescued.
I have attached sources for your reference.
Regards

The US-led Allied forces overran Germany in the end (after years of battling), and forced them to surrender. At that time, as the US and Allied troops pushed across German territory (Germany and German-controlled countries) started stumbling upon the concentration camps and the bodies and ruin, that the Nazis left behind when they fled. Photographers traveling with the troops took photographs, which were soon published for the world to see, and Germany and all of the world realized what had really happened to millions of Jews and "undesirables".
Hitler committed suicide before he could be captured, and those of his cronies that weren't dead fled and hid - many into South American countries.
The conquest and surrender of Germany and Hitler's death, and the dissolution of the Nazi regime, ended the war in Europe and the Holocaust.

The end of the war ended the concentration camps by the Germans. The American soldiers emptied the camps and provided assistance to the victims when possible.

Well keep in mind, Hitler didn't actually want his people to know he was killing all the Jews, they just needed to know that he was taking care of the problem. so most of the Death Camps where millions where exterminated were located in Poland, so that they would be out of sight of German citizens and that they were well placed to receive Jews from Poland ,Russia and Hungary. The Holocaust started to lose steam in early 1945. the Russians were gaining ground across Poland and the Death Camps were being liberated, also Germany's Transportation system was shattered by allied bombing, although the purpose of this was military it also prevented the Germans from shipping Jews to the camps.

American soldiers were in a race to Berlin, it wasn't widely known at the time that there were concentration camps. A lot of Germans simply abandoned their posts as the allies moved forward. When the US military found out what they were dealing with they set up hospitals and repatriation centers to help the victims of Hitlers madness
