Jews aren't supposed to eat pork because people in the dessert who eat pork get sick and die - and the jews couldn't afford to lose any team members. I never heard of christians having a problem with pigs - they just seem to think of them as dispensable.
Peace!

You must always remember, that we are no longer under the Old Testament Law; but now are under the grace of God. God knew that none of us would ever be able to keep the Old Testament Law. Therefore, He made a way through his Son Jesus Christ, that we could be delivered from the burden of the Law. Jesus said that He came not to destroy the Law, but to fulfill the Law. And we are now under the mercy and grace of God; rather than under the Law. If you will read in Acts 10:9-16, you will see that God showed Peter very clearly, that all the meat which was previously known to be unclean, was now made clean; and no longer sinful for mankind to eat for food. The time of Jesus casting the demon spirits out of the man, and allowing them to enter into the herd of swine, had nothing to do with the swine previously being considered to be unclean meat for mankind to eat. So you can forget the idea that you are still committing sin if you eat the meat of swine. For all meat has now been made clean by God Almighty for the consumption of mankind to use as food.

Mark 7:18-19
18 And He said to them, "Are you so lacking in understanding also? Do you not understand that whatever goes into the man from outside cannot defile him; 19 because it does not go into his heart, but into his stomach, and is eliminated?" (Thus He declared all foods clean.)
Romans 14:20
20 Do not tear down the work of God for the sake of food. All things indeed are clean, but they are evil for the man who eats and gives offense.
Acts 10:10-15
10 And he became hungry, and was desiring to eat; but while they were making preparations, he fell into a trance; 11 and he beheld the sky opened up, and a certain object like a great sheet coming down, lowered by four corners to the ground, 12 and there were in it all kinds of four-footed animals and crawling creatures of the earth and birds of the air. 13 And a voice came to him, "Arise, Peter, kill and eat!" 14 But Peter said, "By no means, Lord, for I have never eaten anything unholy and unclean." 15 And again a voice came to him a second time, "What God has cleansed, no longer consider unholy."

God created us and wants us to take care of our flesh bodies as well as our spiritual bodies. There are many things listed which are not to be eaten. This is simply because they are unclean and will make us sick. Pork clogs up your arteries and causes many health problems. The reason pork is unhealthy is because they do not have sweat glands, therefore the meat is like 'poison.' Sweating is a way of excreting poisons in our system, just like urinating and having bowel movements. Because pigs don't sweat the retain that poison within their bodies, we then eat that poison.

Forbidden in a covenant that is not with the current church. You can eat all of Miss Piggy you want. I tend to get indigestion though, so I tend to stay away from pork.

Those are two scriptural references as to why some religions and cultures tell their followers to not eat pork. Whether the followers chose to obey or not is their business.
You, of course may have your own reasons for eating or not eating it.
Ultimately, it is your choice.

Yes, God forbade it because it didn't chew the cud. Medicine has also proved that pigs are very unhealthy to eat, when compared to other animals

I think it has more to do with putting a "religious" ban on it due to trichinosis in ancient history because they didn't know how to properly prepare pork...
