WHAT THE H***??? the captain told me if i were to get into any other trouble i would get sent to the brig and kicked out. isnt it a dishonorable discharge if you get sent to the brig. what can i do guys??

The only answer I CAN give you is to suck it up even though that's not what you want to hear.

You made a commitment when you enlisted. You stated that you were going to serve your country. I don't want to give you the morality speech, but you seriously need one.

If you get sent to the brig it comes with a dishonorable discharge. This will essentially ruin your life. From applying to jobs to applying for gun permits, this dishonorable discharge will follow you wherever you go. You can apply to get it upgraded in time but the chances of that happening are slim and none.

I strongly advise you to fulfill your commitment. And I happen to know of some things you could do to get kicked out, but I would never share them with someone. As a noncommissioned officer in the Army, I saw too many people tuck their tails between their legs and run simply because they couldn't cut it or they didn't like it. Their strength was nonexistent and so is yours.

You're disgusting.

Ok first of all a captain's mast cannot give a person a OTH discharge. A captain's mast is the Navy equivalent to the Army's Article 15 proceedings. This is non-judical punishment.

An Other than Honorable discharge can only be done through an Administrative Discharge. Although not sure of the Navy regs, one can't be placed in confinement/Brig without a Courts-Martial; however, confinement and getting a dishonorable discharge are too different things, A summary courts-martial where confinement can be ordered does not have the authority to also order a dishonorable discharge.

Ok, you don't want to be in the Navy, the easiest way and the best way to get out with a honorable discharge, is to get a Bar to Re-enlistment. Then you request an administrative discharge on the grounds that you cannot overcome the Bar. This voluntary discharge lets you get out of the Navy with an Honorable Discharge. The simplest way to get a bar is to fail your PT Tests.

In short, Don't go AWOL, all it will do is get you demoted with extra duty, then they can chapter you out with an OTH discharge. Be smart, fail a couple of PT Tests, at which point they should put a Bar to reenlistment on you, then you and only you can request a voluntary administrative discharge because you can't overcome the Bar.

To those that say, tell them your gay, is the wrong answer. Why, because you could still wind up with an Other than Honorabe discharge. And don't tell anyone, not the chaplain, and not your therapist. Unlike civilian laws, under military law, the chaplain and the therapist could be the one to report that you are gay.

I don't know if I read your message right but if you are gay just tell them. It is a general discharge and it won't look terrible on your paperwork. I don't know much about the Navy but you sound like you are still in training. It does get better after training.

Getting sent to the brig does not = a dishonorable discharge. You have to do some really bad stuff to get a dishonorable!!! I don't know how long you have been in but you might be able to ask for an initial entry separation. Granted it is up to your commander whether to give it to you. The Army calls it a "failure to adapt" and it is a general discharge. Basically if you can't hack training or within 6 months of getting to your unit you can't hack that they will separate you with a general discharge. it is for all the retards who are late for formations and can't get their **** together.

I don't know what UA is (AWOL?). If you went AWOL for 28 days and then came back you are lucky you aren't in jail right now!!!! Talk to the Chaplain or a therapist but do not do anything stupid. Once you get to your unit they can seperate you at that point. It sounds like you have overdone it up their in the great lakes and they are ready to send your *** to jail for any reason. If you truly cannot hack the Navy they will separate you but be patient. I have seen too many people take drastic measures to get out of the military and ended up screwing up the rest of their lives.

If you are at Great Lakes Training Command you can go UA past the 30 day mark and you will get an OTH automatically. No mast either. They will pack up your belongings and ship them to your house after 30 days. When you go back you need to go to TPU(building 177 right behind the USO) and they will begin to process you out. Be home in 3-4 weeks. Apply for an upgrade later on and since you are still in training they will most likely upgrade it to general under the terms that you couldn't adapt. No brig and no more "yes chief, no chief" I know that sometimes people will give anything to get out. It's understandable. I hate when people try to look down on those who want out. If they got into something that made them miserable they would do EXACTLY what you are doing. I support anyone's decision in wanting out or in. The military recruiting is so screwed up you think you're doing something good for your life and then you get there and everything you were promised is gone and your life seems to be nonexistant. Good luck and if you have any questions email me at Tantar_87@yahoo.com my ears are always open man

Alright buddy... listen up. I got an OTH, and it has nothing to do with being a coward or anything... you shouldn't have to endure the bullshit that the military piles up. For starters... FTN!!! They put bush in charge and sent me to war, so the same f*cked up recruiters/government who tricked me at the age of 16 into joining, has the same thing coming back to them. First of all, tell them you're gay. If you have proof, then prove it. When you're out, work at a Temp agency for about 6 months (you get paid minimum wage, weekly!!! Yes weekly). Talk to your congressman, get your discharge bumped up because you are gay, and voila! Getting hired by a temp is easy as cake, but getting your discharge bumped up is a thorn. No prob. Good luck, and FTN. I dealt with heart palpatations the 2nd half of my career and the ship I served on gave me a few worthless EKG's, and some crappy medicine. I figurede, **** it, I gotta get out somehow. Eventually after two brig terms (two because they wanted me to stay, and they kept fighting for me) thanks but no thanks, I told them to kick me out. They tried to keep me after the second brig term if I would cooperate. Screw that sh*t! Get out man, screw these people's advice, after the Navy I started raking in more than E5 pay.

Oh and by the way OTH looks just as bad as dishonorable. Have fun working at Burger King!!

Sounds like you are about an inch away from a court-martial.

So your choices seem to be:

Suck it up and complete your enlistment and get out with an honorable discharge or

Continue to act like an immature loser, get courtmartialed, get some time in a military prison then get booted out with a dishonorable discharge. And spend the rest of your life with a felony conviction limiting any and all prospects you have.

The choice is yours.

once you enlist contained in the yankee protection rigidity, you examine in for a freelance of everywhere from 3-6 years of initial enlistment (this may variety by a 12 months or 2, reckoning on MOS, college, in the back of agenda get perfect of entry to application, and so on...). in case you fulfil your contract legal responsibility, and are not compelled out via failure to evolve (each and every from time to time ordinary drug useage will carry about this), UCMJ proceedings, desertion, and so on...you would receive the alternative to ETS (Expiration of time period of service, or end time period of service), which signifies that you'll be able to go away from the protection rigidity with an honorable discharge. some squaddies pick to serve their time period and go away, and some pick to stay in yet another time period. All are given the alternative to re-enlist (each and every from time to time even threatened or scared into reenlistment). Examples of issues that would want to steer on to DISHONORABLE discharges are quite somewhat inumerable, yet any severe or repetative undesirable habit will in all probability carry about reprimands and/or dishonorable discharges. different kinds of discharge contain medical (those who're injured previous common service features), different-than-honorable, undesirable habit, and typical.

Remember this. Anything less than a General discharge will effect you adversely for jobs, security clearances, and other important issues for the rest of your life. Get over the home sickness and do your time. I served 9 yrs honorably and only got out to try to save my marriage.

You should just accept whatever they give you as punishment for your word and oath being worthless. People will judge you for anything other than an honorable discharge and I for one would certainly never hire someone without an honorable.

You gave your word and swore an oath to serve your country, your actions now are not only cowardly, they are selfish as well.
