Its always bugged me: why was eating fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil so sinful? All it did was give Adam and Eve knowledge of good and evil, and apparently self-awareness because they realized they were naked and made clothes out of fig leaves? Does this mean that philosophy and self-awareness are evil?

So we're all "sniveling weasels" because our ancestors made one mistake? He placed the tree. He created man. He created the serpent. God didn't like the behavior of what he created, and he takes it out on us? I started off confused, and I am getting more confused. This is all bullshit.

Now see I think this is a mis-translation. It makes more sense to think that god gave adam and eve a choice - they could come here for a paradise vacation or they could use this existence for learning and education. Humanity chose education. I think god was proud. I mean, every parent is proud of their children when they take the high road and do the work to learn and be a better person. I think it was us humans who said "lost paradise? that must be a sin or some kind of stupid mistake". I think to god everything is just that - a thing. Humans are the ones with labels of good and evil.
Peace!

Disobedience is the sin here. Before they ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil they were perfect before God. Adam and Eve were protected by God.
They were given one command and they could not even do it. That is why sin entered into the world. If it had not been for the sin or Adam and Eve we would be living in the perfect world!

I don't think that was the original sin actually.
In Genesis after the physical world was made. All of the souls that were made were allowed to enter and See what the Creator had made. some entered the bodies of all that was there and became so engrossed with the physical sensations that they forgot how to leave and where they came from.
I would call that a big original sin.
As far as ADAM and EVE . Can you say setup. They were the First of the race called Israelites. They met other tribes outside of the Garden. If they were the first man and woman made where did these other tribes come from and who made them .Also how long before ADAM and family were they alive?

It was to God's plan for man.
If you want to know the reason, accept Jesus and then ask to see God for Jesus gives you that right. Then ask God.
Obviously God wanted naked man and woman with no concepts of YING and YANG, which, theoretcially, is not going to be that easy to pull off logically. I mean ULTIMATELY Adam or Eve will NOT like the taste of something and spit it out. THAT generates a statement of GOOD and EVIL.
Maybe God was looking for that. What would MAN find on their own with NO influences.
Maybe God was looking to see what man would develop into with no PREJUDICES.
The original sin, however, is ME telling YOU not to lift that cover up and look under it and then I walk away. What do YOU do. Do you listen to me or do you do as you want to.
That's the ORIGINAL SIN and what is the first thing we did:
Eve BLAMES the snake.
Adam BLAMES Eve.
SHE MADE ME DO IT
In a PIGS EYE.
What did she do, twist your arm and say IF YOU DON'T EAT THIS I'LL RIP YOUR ARM OFF!
Basically God found he created WEASELS.
Sinviling weasels.
Wouldn't that disapoint you!
God created Y/A trolls!

Man was never to know the difference of good and evil, that was Gods territory. The sin was not so much the partaking of the fruit itself, but the act of disobedience. Adam and Eve had the right to eat of the Tree of Life and that was Gods plan from the beginning, but they chose a path that man was not equipped to handle.

Well, you are missing the message of Adam and Eve story. The Authors of Genesis did not write the "fall of man" to explain how evil it was to eat from the "Tree of of Knowledge" but rather to explain to mankind the origin of our sufferings, trials, hard labors , and why we are what we are.

See I always thought that original sins were the ones that you made up that no one had ever heard of before. (Like poking a badger with a spoon).
But seriously. Eating the apple was wrong because it was the only thing which God had said not to do. Self-awareness comes with self interest and selfishness. It is kind of a package set. This diminished the ability for man to commune with and be attentive to God.

In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful.
O children of Adam, We have indeed send down to you raiment to cover you nakedness and to be a means of adornment; but the raiment of righteousness - that is the best. That is of the commandments of God, that they may remember
And verily, We had made a covenant with Adam beforehand, but he forgot, and We found in him no resolve to disobey US.
These are the people upon whom God bestowed His blessings from among the Prophets of the posterity of Adam, and of the posterity of those whom We carried in the Ark with Noah, and of the posterity of Abraham and Israel; and they are of those whom We guided and chose. When the Signs of the Gracious God were recited unto them, they fell down, prostrating themselves before Allah and weeping.

I liken it to children being disobedient to their father. The father tells his children that they can play with every toy on the playground except for the 4-wheeler. The father would have given them the 4-wheeler when they were old enough to use it without harming themselves, but they wanted it now. The children felt that their father was being selfish for trying to withhold it from them.
Disobedience.
