I saw an episode of Miami Ink and this girl got the word Faith written on her side and it was the same word when flipped around. Does it have a specific name?

The word You are looking for is "Ambigram", eg., MUM, TOOT. A word that can be spelled from right to left, or left to right. Don't confuse them with "Palindrome", which is an entire sentence that can be both written and read forwards and backwards,eg., Napoleon is said to have made the remark "Able was I ere I saw Elba" (the isle upon which He was exiled). An "Anagram" is a word (or sentence) constructed of the same letters used in another word (or sentence).

Do you mean like how, I believe it is 50 cent, has a tattoo that says life or death depending on which way you look at it? I am not sure that there is a specific name for it but you could use that as an example and I am sure the tattoo artist will know what you are talking about.

Its not an anagram,

Anagram: a word or phrase that contains all the letters of another word or phrase in a different order. “Astronomers” is an anagram of “no more stars.”

Its kind of a palindrome,

palindrome: a word, phrase, passage, or number that reads the same forward and backward, for example, “Anna,” “Draw, o coward,” or “23832”.

but I think you are refering to an ambigram,

An ambigram, also sometimes known as an inversion, is a graphical figure that spells out a word not only in its form as presented, but also in another direction or orientation.

The word is "abigram" ...as mentioned before.
I've done them before. The person who got the tattoo designed it himself. It was an ambigram of the name "Zophiel"

CarlyL is right. A palindrome is a word that is the same spelled either forward or backwards.
I can't imagine how they could do that with the word "Faith"

The first answer was correct. It is called an anagram. Palindromes are whole sentences which read the same from the back as from the front.

i think what you're looking for is a palindrome. so words like 'hannah' or 'peep' or a sentence like 'lee had a heel'.... i don't really know how 'faith' flipped around (in a mirror right?) looks like faith again...how curious! good luck :)

The only thing that I can think of is 'palendrome'. Like Dad is the same forwards and backwards. I am not sure if that's what you mean or not.
