In California, manslaughter is unintentional, not premeditated. 2nd degree murder is similar to murdering in the heat of passion. Murder 1 is premeditated and planned. No 3rd degree in California. Foul play can be anything like vandalism.

1st degree homicide is once you deliberate to kill someone, both a particular man or woman or as part of yet another crime. second degree homicide is once you desirous to kill someone on the spur of the on the spot. The third degree is what you get once you're wondered in connection with a homicide. i don't understand of any State's which have a third degree homicide statute. The charge is very nearly consistently manslaughter. which signifies that you probably did kill somone and are at fault, even if it wasn't your intent.

You have several questions in there.
foul play is a term used by law enforcement to determine a death to be suspicious.
as for the others they are classifications of offenses. each state has different definitions for each. Here is Florida's.......
1st degree murder is intent to kill w/ deliberation and premeditation - punishable by $10,000 fine and/or 30 years to life
2nd degree murder is killing with malice but w/o deliberation and premeditation - punishable by $10,000 fine and/or 15 years
3rd degree murder is also know as felony murder, no intent to kill only to commit felony - punishable by $5,000 fine and/or 5 years
Manslaughter is unlawful killing of a human being w/o malice it is also split by voluntary / involuntary and negligent or vehicle homicide - punishable by $5,000 fine and up to 5 years.
