On one hand Sirius has more Canadian content but I was told by the Futureshop sales person that Sirius Drops calls in Halifax. I cant see it since it is Satalite but he sells the stuff and should know what he is talking about. XM has more options for music but the news is all corporate us FOX CNN crap while Sirius has NPR and CBC and alternatives. What are people saying about satalite radio in this area.

Don't ever assume anyone that works at Future Shop knows what they're talking about. If one provider is giving them SPIFFS (cash incentives to employees) they're going to push one over the other regardless of what they really think.

The truth is XM in Halifax relies on a terrestrial repeater in order to operate. The satellite signal is quite low on the horizon there and before they put that repeater up, the signal all along the Bedford Highway was minutes of drop outs at a time. Sure it works there now, but once you leave Halifax, there are no more repeaters unitl Quebec City going west or St. John's going east. Hills and trees block XM quite easily and it gets worse the further north and east you go.

Sirius works great. It is the only satellite radio provider who has uninterrupted coverage across Newfoundland where I reside. XM only works in St. John's, then it is a drop out until you get about 5 hours away to Springdale or Deer Lake. If you like Sirius' content better you should definitely give it a try. Futureshop has 30 day money back so if it drops out too much for you, take it back!
