You'll find hundreds of cures for snoring, some more reputable than others, certainly some that are more effective than others. Before you invest in any solution, take our questionnaire, which will help you determine which remedies are more likely to work for you.

If you already have some idea of which remedy you should try, select from one or more of the categories below:

Lifestyle changes
All the usual vices worsen snoring: alcohol, smoking, overeating, under exercising, caffeine. What did you expect?!

Sleep Posture Correction
Many of us snore especially loudly when we sleep on our back. Various pillows and strap-on devices are available to get you unsupine.

Homeopathic remedies
Some people have had success with natural remedies available in health food stores and over the Net.

Throat sprays
These coat the soft tissues of the throat in lubricating oils, allowing the air to move more freely and lessening the noisy vibration.

Nasal dilation
These include adhesive strips which hold open the airways of your nose, plastic devices to hold open your nostrils, and nasal sprays which reduce congestion or the swelling of nasal tissues.

Mouth breathing correction
Many people would snore less if they would just learn to breathe through their nose. This page lists products that will shut your mouth...

Mouthpiece devices
Devices are available — some custom-fitted by your dentist — which pull your lower jaw or tongue forward, thereby creating enough space in the throat to prevent breathing obstruction.

CPAP (Continuous Positive Airways Pressure)
Machinery which blows air through your nose via a mask, preventing disruption of breathing and eliminating snoring.

Palatal inserts
The approach here is to reduce the vibration of your throat tissues by stiffening them with permanent (but reversible) inserts of polyester material.

Palate stiffening by scarring
You can achieve palate stiffening and reduce noisy vibrations by injecting a scarring solution (injection snoreplasty) or surgically by creating scarring with laser or scalpel.

Radiofrequency Tissue Reduction: Somnoplasty and Coblation
Radiofrequency Tissue Reduction (RFTR) consists of piercing the tongue, throat or soft palate with a needle connected to a radio frequency generator. Inner tissues shrink, but outer tissues, which contain your taste buds, are left intact.

Surgery
Various surgical procedures with names like uvulopalatoplasty are available which remove or shrink palate and throat tissue, making it easier for you to breathe.

Hypnosis, aromatherapy and other alternative approaches
These pages collect any off-the-wall remedy we come across. We don't endorse any snoring remedy on this site, but we try to document them all.

I shall relate an incident from a country from middle east. A man got married with a very beautiful young lady. She had the habit of snoring. The family of the girl hid this fact from the bridegroom's family. Few days after the marriage the husband filed a divorce suit on the basis of this snoring. The wife suggested to the judge a solution to arrive at a compromise. She suggested that she will sleep during the day when the husband is away at work and that she will not sleep or snore in the night. The judge, the husband, the families and advocates, all agreed to this solution. And then they lived happily thereafter. This story must be true because I read it as a news item in a prestigious newspaper. I forgot which newspaper. I had a paper clipping. That too I lost. That is another story. Another time.

my husband snores every night. he had broken his nose as a kid and it never set right. ears nose and throat doc said the only way to stop the snoring was to rebreak the nose if it really bothered him. guess what...it doesn't bother him. AGH!!!!

anywho, i just kick him, lovingly, of course. he usually rolls over and it stops for a little while. i also hold his nose sometimes, or put my finger in it, more to annoy than stop the snoring. it works.

i will continue to nag him about the broken nose, or perhaps do it myself one night as he snores. snorers do not realize the agony they put their partners through. thank god he works the midnight shift 5 nights a week. lol.

whenever you husband snores, just roll him to any of his side. Doing so much of the snoring could be avoided.

a person snores maximum when he lies on his back.

its my experience.

hope this works for you.
