Yep. Church fathers compared it to light shining through a window, or Christ's miraculous passing through the door of the upper room after His Resurrection.

I couldn't really answer that, but I wouldn't think that she was spared all pain, the pain we endure during labor and delivery isn't just our punishment pasted down from Eve, but the onset of labor pains is a sign that the birth of our child is near.
Some women have extreme labor pain and others have mere discomfort.

That would seem to follow logically from the Church teachings and the Bible. It's not official doctrine to the best of my knowledge, but it is the position held by a number of early Church fathers.

Please go to the Catholics Only Section of YAHOO! 7 ANSWERS with your Catholic-Only question.
Original sin is a pagan concept and is not to be found among the Muslims of Israel and worshippers of The Only True God (John 17:3) but this suggestion can be seen in the ninth chapter of John in a pagan question that was asked about the man who was born blind,
"Master, who did sin, this man or his parents that he was born blind? (John 9:2)
"Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents, but that the works of God should be made manifest in him." (John 9:3)
"He is a prophet.," said the man who was born blind, of the Christ (John 9:17)
Your pagan doctrine of son of God and mother of God does not even hold with the New Testament.
Both Mary and her son were purely human and neither was a God.

The Catholic Church's definition of original sin also does not mention pain during childbirth: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt1sect2chpt1art1p7.htm#395
The Catechism of the Catholic Church does not mention whether or not the Blessed Virgin Mary suffered pain during the birth of Jesus: http://www.nccbuscc.org/catechism/text/pt1sect2chpt2art3p2.htm

Who could possibly know that? It's not in the Bible, and any attempt to answer would be pure conjecture.

In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful
And remember when the angels said, 'O Mary, God has chosen thee and purified thee and chosen thee above all women of the time.'
'O Mary, be obedient to thy Lord and prostrate thyself and worship the one God with those who worship Him.'
This is of the tidings of things unseen which We reveal to thee. And thou wast not with them when they cast their arrows, as to which of them should be the guardian of Mary, nor wast thou with them when they disputed with one another.
When the angels said, 'O Mary, God gives thee glad tidings of a son through a Word from Him; his name shall be the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, honoured in this world and in the next, and of those who are granted nearness to God;
'And he shall speak to the people in the cradle, and when of middle age, and he shall be of the righteous
And for their disbelief and for their uttering against Mary a grievous calumny;
And relate the story of Mary as mentioned in the Book, when she withdrew from her people to an eastern place;
And We made the son of Mary and his mother a Sign, and gave them shelter on an elevated land of green valleys and springs of running water.
And sets forth as an example Mary, the daughter of Imr›n, who guarded her chastity - so We breathed into him of Our Spirit -and she fulfilled the prophecy conveyed to her in the words of her Lord contained in His Books and she was one of the obedient.
And relate the story of Mary as mentioned in the Book, when she withdrew from her people to an eastern place;
So she conceived him, and withdrew with him to a remote place
And the pains of child-birth drove her unto the trunk of a palm-tree. She said, 'O, would that I had died before this and had become a thing quite forgotten
'And shake towards thyself the trunk of the palm-tree; it will drop upon thee fresh ripe dates;
