Hi Jackie... Oatmeal is considered a Domestic Short Hair (DSH) Calico
Wikipedia defination of cat breed: only three percent of owned cats belong to a cat breed, and an even smaller percentage of those are suitable as show cats. A breeding certificate proves that a cat belongs to a cat breed by showing the cat's pedigree back to at least four generations.
[edit] tabby is not a breed of cat. It is referring just to the markings of the cat like the calico is distinguised by colour patterning.

She might be an American Short hair, or a Domestic Short Hair. Calico is a color. Like white, black, grey ect. Example: Calico Persian. The Persian is the breed Calico is the color. From the way your cat looks I would assume it is a Domestic Short hair. Good Luck.

Domestic Shorthair?
And you're right - "calico" isn't a breed, it's a description of a coat color. Calico coat patterns occur in several breeds. There are calico-colored Persians, for example.

She is a domestic short hair, and her description is calico. Tabby, calico, etc. are just desciptions of coat appearance. The picture looks like she has longer hair than some short hairs. There is short, medium and long hair. The picture looks like her hair is medium in length.
It doesn't matter. She is very pretty, and her life is a party.

She is a mix. Probably a domestic shorthair. That is what they call them when they don't know what they are at the animal shelter or humane society. She is pretty so her breed is really not an issue...

Looks like you have some good old mixed breed cats. They call them Domestic short hairs, Domestic medium hairs, or Domestic long haired cats. Just depends on their fur length. I have two domestic short haired cats. But your kitties sure are cute!
