I thinking of adding some ginger root to a tabouli salad. Should I peel the root and is this a good/bad idea?

Hmmm, ginger root in a tabouli salad? I'm not sure about that. But, if you are going to add it, then yes I would peel it. I use the side of a spoon for this. Then use a microplane or other fine grater to grate it finely.

I always peel ginger when I am using it. I peel it with a knife. I do not know if that is the tradional way. Then I grate it of dice it really small. You can also run it through a juicer and get a small amount of juice and mix that in your salad. I have no idea how it would be in tabouli. Both are excellent so give it a try.

Yes, you have to peel it but that is very easy to do. I use a vegetable peeler. You probably want to grate it as well since I am sure no one wants to bite down on a chunk of raw ginger.

Sounds delicious to put ginger in tabouli

unless i'm using it to flavour a sauce that will be strained then yes i peel it.the best way i've come across is to use the edge of a spoon and scrape it along the piece of ginger.it just scrapes the skin with very little waste
