My key does not disable the Anti-Theft Alarm that was installed from the factory? I was told I would have to take the door lock out in order to fix this problem. Also my key only opens the driver door and not the entire vehicle. Anyone have any suggestions?
Please let me know where I can find the answers or give me your advice. Thank you in advance for all answers. Yes I can take it to VW but that is more costly than trying to fix it myself first.
ALL answers welcome.

I would like to know if anyone know where I can look this info up or if anyone can give me suggestions. I have removed the door panel to try to fix the problem but it does not work. Everytime I reconnect the battery the alarm starts!!!

The reason that your key will only unlock the driver's door is because it is a valet key. The valet key will not unlock the trunk, glove box or other doors. It may not turn off the factory alarm either (I'm not sure about that, but because you are having problems with it, I'm guessing that is the case).

You should take your title and valet key and see if the dealer can make you an actual key for your car. It will unlock everything and will be able to disarm the factory alarm as well.

Actually the alarm control module (part number J284) is located in the front dashboard under the A pilar. Remove the panel below the instrument panel and disconnect a 6 and a 10 pin connector. Loosen the hex nut and take the module out. Tape the connectors up so they wont make contact with anything else.
This should disable the system.

Take it to the dealer and ask them what the problem is. They might even do it for free. The most likely problem is that the drivers lock was replace and not wired properly to the system.
glxtasy might be rIght too. Definetely take it to the dealer because theyre the ones that can tell you which key is the real one or valet or a new lock. You can disarm the whole system but depends on what kind of neighborhood you live in.

it sounds to me like your drivers side door wiring harness is broken. to check this pull back the rubber boot going from the body to the door and check for any broken wires. if you find any you should replace the door harness and i am 99% sure this will fix all of your problems.
