I doubt he was a real pain to his mother until he eventually died. But, you know how kids are like spoiling their appetites before supper.I think it all depends on how big he was at birth.Oh yea, she was a virgin. That's gotta hurt. Most likely she was prepped by a mid-wife etc. They may have even had local anesthetics of some kind. These people weren't that stupid. Not every birth is the same.Besides, I 'm pretty sure she's over it by now.

The only accurate information on this subject is found in the Bible, and it's mute about most of this whole affair. Reasonably, since she, like everyone else, is descended from Adam and Eve after they sinned, then Mary was imperfect--despite what the Catholic Church teaches to the contrary. So she had birth pains; how much and for how long, there's no way to know, and it really isn't important. She had to go through the pain because they didn't have C-sections back then (but that would have been painful too anyhow!) and it was God's purpose for Jesus to be born, live and die as a human, which was the ONLY way he could be in position to redeem mankind from sin.

Pain in childbirth came in under the curse of sin. I don't think anyone can truly answer this one because Gods hand was over this woman. In Galatians 3:13 and 1 Peter 2:24 the Bible tells us that pain was part of the curse and Jesus delivered us from the curse to any who believe. I know of women who stood on these scriptures and had pain free labor. In this situation, Jesus had not died for our redemption yet, so Mary and all mankind were still under it and subject to it. So the price for pain, sickness, and suffering had yet to be paid for. So did she suffer pain? It could have gone either way.

Good question...you would think God would have made the birth painless seeing as it was Jesus...but then God also said that women would be in travail and pain in child bearing because Eve did not do as she was commanded by God and ate of the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil...
My guess would be that yes she most likely had at least some pain and maybe as much as any woman.

Since there is no record of if she had pain or not there is no way to answer this question. Just like if you have a baby and thousands of years down the line if someone asked if you had pain no one would know.

Hi Atheist Eye Candy. Yes, Mary did have labor pains when giving birth to Christ. God tells us all women shall have pain while giving birth. In Genesis 3:16 God tells us:
"To the woman He said: “I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; In pain you shall bring forth children; Your desire shall be for your husband, And he shall rule over you.”
Her pain is the result of doing the will of Satan. Sin entered the World through Adam and Eve. The Bible tells us in Romans 5:12:
"Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin, and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:"
Adam's sinned because he did this out of his own free will. He was not coaxed by Satan like Eve was. He listened to his wife instead of God.
As far as who is ultimately responsible, Adam or Eve, the Bible tells us that man and wife are "one flesh". In Genesis 2:24 we read:
"For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh."

the pain that women have during child birth is because of Eve's sin, which all of us are born with, hence original sin. So yes she had pain otherwise I think they would have said otherwise.

According to the Bible, labor pains are a result of the Fall and orginal sin. The Catholic Church teaches that Mary was exempt from the stain of original sin from the moment of her conception (i.e., the Immaculate Conception.)
By that logic, then no, she was not contaminated by original sin and not subject to the punishment of labor pains. This isn't an official Church doctrine to the best of my knowledge, but it does follow logically from the Bible and Church teachings.
