When you pet her
When you feed her favorite food
When you cuddle her
When you brush her
When you play with her
When she purrs and closes her eyes at you (if a cat shuts her eyes at you, that's her way of smiling at you)

Cats will understand that you love them by how you treat them playing holding and cuddling is very important from the beginning they do NOT react well to being smacked or tossed loud noises like a clap of the hands will work much better as long as they love you your disapproval will be all you need to keep them in line spend time and love on your cat and your cat will always be there for you

Well, I try to communicate love to my cat the way cats do. I rub her face with my finger like I'm washing her (other cats show a cat affection this way) I rub my nose against her, I let her lick me. I also leave her alone when she wants, give her some treats in moderation, and give her as many scratches as she likes!

animals have pretty good instinct when it comes to perceiving emotions and intentions. So if you love your cat, the cat will know. I'm not sure animals know "love" in the same way we do... they know friendly from unfriendly, and they know who they like and who they don't like. Cats aren't as automatically social as dogs, so if your cat likes you, then you're doing something right.

So does she understand she's "loved?" I don't know. But she might understand that you feed her and pet her and play with her and generally make her happy, so that translates into good vibes from kitty.

I read a quote a while ago that said " 1000's of years ago cats were worshiped as Gods, cats have never forgotten this" and its soooo true for my babies, yes I think they know when they are loved ;-)
