I can't be too big (space concerns), but it's got to have a lot of WOW value. Any ideas? Thank you in advance for your help.

My daughters LOVED anything Dora when they were 2 years old. Also, they were just getting into Disney Princesses, so one of the dolls and the matching DVD would be cool.

And there's always Play-doh, colored pencils and a Magna Doodle. Definitely the Magna-doodle. NOT the Aqua doodle.

a kitchen is perfectly appropriate for a boy i dont understand why people say stuff like that is inappropriate in this day and age men cook just as much as women the gender lines are blurring and it's definatly a good thing aside from that most of the great chefs of the world are male however i do agree that you should get seperate gifts if they were living together for quite some time or married then i would say go for it but as everybody else said what if something happens obviously your niece would keep the toy but it's really unfair since you are on a college budget try going to walmart or toysrus during a big sale maybe get them something they can do together but that is still seperate gifts like craft kits that are age appropriate or finger paints

Sam's Club has this Disney Princess thing for like $20 that has a mini Play yard, baby swing, a stroller, a baby doll, and i can't remember what else... but it all collapses so it will save space. Another idea is to get a little unfinished wooden chest from Michael's or somewhere, paint it and add her name, then fill it with dress up clothes... The dress up clothes will entertain her for a few years, and when she grows out of them you can use the chest as a toy chest. If you do the chest thing, don't make it too childish because you can always save it and continue to use it for different things as she grows up.

My daughter just turned 2 last month and she really loves to play tea party. Most tea party sets are quite resonable in price, I bought her a disney princess tea set from the Disney Store for $12.00. Another good idea is a basket full of plastic food. I bought a kit from Walmart that had over 50 pieces there is everything from carrots to oreo cookies and it all comes in a cute grocery hand basket for easy storage. Wooden puzzles are a big hit with my little one as well. My daughter was given a Wiggles guitar for her b-day that is one of her favourite toys at the moment (and the nice thing is it isn't too loud) she loves to play the songs over and over.

Hope this gives you a few ideas!

Best Wishes

Depends on what she likes. My 2 year old loves anything Dora and Diego. She also likes The Littlest Petshop toys. (be careful if she puts small pieces in her mouth though. My daughter never has done that). Maybe a platic art easel that can fold up when not in use. We got one for my daughter and it's a blackboard on one side and a dry erase board on the other!

I really like aquadoodles. They have bears, mats, and Target has an exclusive puzzle mat aquadoodle. It colors with water, so it is perfect for anywhere, including the van. My five year old has been playing with this stuff for 3 years now. She loves it. She also likes playing with her kitchen set (dishes, play food, shopping cart) and baby dolls with a few outifits to change. She like playing with dress up clothes too. A lot of two year olds like to change thier clothes a lot, so dress up clothes are great for girls like that. Good luck and God bless you and your family this Christmas Season.

My advice is that wow gifts tend to not be favorite gfts in the long run. Instead go for something with less wow and more long term satisfaction, like a really beautiful book.

Check out ToyRus' website. There is a ball pit that doesn't look terribly big. I am totally getting that for my twin 15 month olds. It was on sale for only 20.00, but full price is around 50.00.
