This stems from an old Jewish practice of using the Torah to convert the neighboring tribes.
Of course, back then it was on stone tablets, and those make fairly effective weapons, therefrore you have, "Converting the non-believers with God's word, because it carries a lot of weight"

When non-believers ask questions, pointing to passages in the Bible show that there ARE answers to their questions.
Like, when people ask about Adam and Eve having only two children (or three sons).
Or when people ask many other questions, which already have answers in the Bible.
But it is true, the Bible ALSO is an "instruction guide" which believers should follow.

Perhaps someone might not believe in all that the Bible states. But the areas that are obviously true or accepted by that person might be used to convince him or her that ALL of the Bible is true. However, if someone does not believe any of the Bible, then at least the fact that a particular point is in there attests to the fact that the one sharing the verses is not the only one with that point of view. I hope that this helps, God bless!

The Bible is definitely a tool to get a point across, to the believer it is the truth. But the Bible also remains the best written source to understand God. Yet I could show people things in the Bible and they still won't get it.
Why?
Because they do not have the Spirit of God to guide them. So those that are shown and shown, and all they do is ridicule it, it's because they do not really want to come to Him. Only those that want to know God are guided by His Spirit to know Him.

The Bible is good. It doesn't prove anything. Christians are confused and small minded, but at the same time many of them are well-meaning. It's just a losing proposition, to believe is a cosmology so weird and spooky.
I think of belief as something akin to emotion. And raw belief is an awful lot like raw anger. These people's minds have been taken over by a weird operating system, or maybe like if your computer was attacked by a huge virus that no McAfee or AVG could ever vanquish.

We use the Bible because it is the only place to find God's Holy Word. There are many self help churches that teach a 'feel good' ministry, and they leave out the main message of the Bible, that one day you will stand before the Judgment Throne of Jesus Christ for judgment.
But yes, you are correct that it is God Himself who brings people to Him. God tells us in John 6:44:
"No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day."

Because it is believed that the Bible is the word of God. Just because we can't see an author of a book doesn't mean the person doesn't exist, someone had to write it.

God can use anything he wants to use to get someones attention. I know of quite a few people who tried to read the bible in order to prove someone wrong and ended up getting captured by God in the process. The word is alive and powerful

Isaiah 55:11
So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.

You are correct.
I've got many back issues of Spiderman comics. But they don't prove that Spiderman is real, do they?
