If you live in a warmer state and it's still tanning weather outside you can try putting some lemon juice in your hair. Apply it and lay in the sun (with your hair down, or let the sun hit where ever you put the juice) for a half hour to an hour. Do this repeatedly and it'll give you subtle golden highlights, darker or lighter depending on your starting color. And it works better in non color treated hair.

You can try peroxide, although I wouldn't recommend it as it can be very drying. I tried it once on a small section of hair, it made it lighter a few shades, not orange because I have light golden brown hair to start with.

The only thing I know of that you can safely use to lighten hair at home is lemon juice. You can apply it with an old toothbrush or a cotton ball or whatever, depending on where you want the lightening to be, and then you have to go out into the sun.

Also, this won't make any noticeable difference right away. You really have to do it over and over to see any difference.

The way it works is that the acid in the lemon juice removes the natural oils that are on your hair, making the hair more susceptible to absorbing UV rays which is what lightens hair. Think of the summertime when people spend lots of time out in the sun and their hair can get lighter just by being outside. But like I said, you're not going to see dramatic blonde streaks from using lemon juice once. You have to do it over and over (which might be more trouble than it's worth)

Depends on your hair color.
If you have blonde hair, cinnamon soaked in water would give the hair a slightly reddish tint, while coffee would make it browner. You can color your hair with natural ingrediants, but I'm not sure if you can highlight with them.

Lemon juice and the sun helps. I've done it before. Just rub on the juice and sit in the sun with a book or something.
