I wouldn't be worried. My dog has ate chocolate dozens and dozens of times and nothing has ever happened. He love M&M's, and he gets sneaked choc. from the candy bars that my kids give to him. I know that people believe that choc. is poision for dogs, but if that is true, then the four dogs that I have owned must be truely special, for they have never been effected.

You dog should be fine! Dont make it puke! You can do more harm trying to make it puke then the dog eating chocolate! Grant it dogs are not spose to eat chocolate but depending on how much your dog should be ok. If the dog is 15lbs or over and lets say ate a whole 2 candy bars I wouldnt worry to much. If the dog is under 15lbs and ate one candy bar I would not worry. (keep in mind candy bars have more chocolate in them then say cakes or cupcakes) If you have a small dog and it ate 2 or more bars of chocolate I would consult your vet. If it is a larger dog and has eaten 3 or more bars of chocolate I would consult your vet. Otherwise you dog will be fine. Dogs digestive systems are much like ours. It can handle a little, think of it like alcohol to us. No its not good for us be we can handle a little once in a while and not is great amounts. Keep an eye on your dog, if it starts acting sick call your vet ASAP otherwise dont worry.

Hi -- your dog will eat some grass to calm the stomach but may vomit the chocolate. Yes, chocolate can kill a dog. However, with a dog who adores raiding the Halloween basket, I can attest that it must take a lot of chocolate to harm. My dog is fine after 3 candy cars.
No, to the other responder, eating chocolate does not spontaneously cause a dog to get worms. Goodness, some folks have no brain cells clicking!

She by and large won't die. She could get ill and throw up and crap in every single place, however I believe she will probably be ok. One time my dog (a eight pound min pin) ate a whole huge bowl of chocolate. He bought in poor health, but was great after a day or two. The nice thing to do now's provide your canine some water and loosen up.

It depends on how much your dog ate, but it is rare that it will hurt him esp if its just regular chocolate, the chocolate you have to worry about is cooking chocolate and coca, its not the chocolate itself that hurts the dog its, the alkaloid in chocolate called theobromine that dogs metabolize quickly, In Large amounts and depending on the dogs size it could be lethal.
If you your dog has ingested chocolate, signs of chocolate poisoning include vomiting, diarrhea, excessive urination, a quick heart rate, and rapid breathing, take him to a vet immediately.
If no signs occure he should be find and by all means do not induce vomiting!!!!!!!

I had a cocker spaniel that ate all of my Halloween candy when I was a child and he didn't die or even get sick. I read some where that dark chocolate is the worst for dogs. I think the actual amount that they have to consume is huge.

Depends on how much, and the size of your dog. . If he ate a few pieces, he should be okay, But if he ate like a pound, it could be serious. Chocolate is toxic, but it take a pretty large amount compared to body size to be toxic. I would take him to the vet just to be safe.

chocolate will kill a dog if he or she eats 2 or 3 pounds of it. if your dog only ate a few bites of it or a snicker bar it doesnt have that much chocolate more filling then anything. your dog will be fine if you feel scared boil some rice it will be fine

lol, nothing, the dog will be fine. Choclate is not the best for dogs but it is highly overrated as a "very bad thing" for dogs to eat, a lil choclate will NOT kill them or even hurt them. Now if he ate a whole choclate easter bunny or something, thats a different story...lol

some people says chocalte it toxic to dogs, others say its not toxic or bad for dogs. My dog ate chocolate and nothing happened. I guess it could be a allergy think, like in humans some people are allegiric to peanutbutter and some people arent. its probly that way in dogs...
