Anything that you can imagine that would wear out and be nice to have: socks, t-shirts, batteries, beef jerky, toothbrushes, bootlaces, small hand towels, chewing gum, phone cards, duct tape, magazines, paperbacks, etc.

The biggest thing they need is for people to stop thinking that their political opinions qualify them to tell them what they need or want.

If the troops wanted to come home before the job was finished - they would not be re-enlisting in record numbers.

And does anybody think that the troops want the American people to let them down by pulling them out before the job is finished? Does anybody think that the American people have so little respect for the troops that they are willing to destroy everything they have achieved just because the president was not from their political party?

What do soldiers in Iraq need? Wow, where to begin.

Soldiers in Iraq need the American people to know that they have built hundreds of schools for Iraqi boys and girls.

Soldiers in Iraq need the American people to know that they are rebuilding an infrastructure (Water, electricity, sewage) that was neglected for over 20 years prior to their arrival.

Soldiers in Iraq need the American people to know that there were more American deaths on one day on one beach in Normandy than there have been in five years of war in Iraq.

Soldiers need to know that we can finish the mission with the support of the American people.

Anything. Everything. Crackers and bottled cheese. Newspapers and magazines, anything that helps them stay up to date with the day to day lives of stateside civilians. Pictures and letters.

Probably phone cards so they can call their family and friend back home. Are you doing an "ADOPT-A-SOLDIER" project or something?
