I have used Norton, Spyware Blaster, SpyBot, and it simply won't go away. What is the best free removal tool out there or the instructions a non-techie can use to get rid of this. ARGH!!!

Trend micro has a good online virus scanner for free. It's located at http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

It has saved my skin a couple times...and it removed viruses that Norton didn't pick up.

First, whatever you decide to do, DO NOT wipe your hard drive clean and reformat. That is a nightmare and unnecessary.

I suggest you try this excellent virus removal and protection program. It is very easy to install and use. Also there is a one month free trial so you won't have to pay a cent.

I had a virus on my computer about a month ago, a Trojan that NOTHING I tried would remove or even find. Then I found Prevx. It was like a miracle come true. Within half an hour my computer was back to normal.

I am not very computer savvy at all. But this was like a breeze. Give it a try before you attempt anything difficult suggested here. What do you have to lose?

Click Start>Run> type regedit> highlight My Computer by clicking once on it>Click "Edit">select "Find"> put checkmarks in ALL boxes> type the EXACT name of the file in the box> click "Find Next"> delete any files found that you KNOW are a part of this thing. BE CAREFUL!!! you are messing in your Registry and if you delete the wrong thing you WILL have to reformat your computer losing ALL data.> to continue the search until done press F3.

After that, Click Start again>Search>type the SAME name as before and search. Delete all files you KNOW are a part of this program.

Hope this helps.

GOOD LUCK!!!

EDIT: after you get rid of this pest LOSE the Norton garbage as well, and try Alwil Anti-virus from:

http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

Avast is a VERY powerful prog for FREE! It looks in a LOT more places for a LOT more things than AVG. I used AVG until they went down the tubes a couple of years ago. Avast also updates CONSTANTLY....very important!!!!!!!

Spybot Search & Destroy from here:

http://www.safer-networking.org/

SS&D give super real-time protection with it's Tea Timer function in Advanced Mode.

Ad-Aware se Personal by Lavasoft:

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad-aware_se_personal.php

The free version gives no real-time protection but is a GREAT back up to SS&D. It gets what SS&D MIGHT miss!

I've used this FREE "cocktail" ever since the programs first came out with GREAT results!!! I also us the pop-up blockers in XP SP2, Y! Toolbar and Google Toolbar. It's sometimes a pain to synchronize them to allow the pop-ups I WANT but it's WORTH it for the protection obtained.

Again, GOOD LUCK! @};-

I'm trying to understand - are you working to remove a virus, or a software program called, "Virusbursters." All the software programs you mentioned above are made to remove viruses - not a software program.

If you have a software program called "virusbursters," that you want to remove go to "My Computer," then "Control Panel." Then go to "Add/Remove Programs." If this is an installed program, it should be listed there. Then when you click on it and it asks if you want to remove all of it, answer, "OK," or "Yes."

Add any P.S. if you'd like. I've been in the computer business since 1983.

Hi..this is from one of my favorite computer security websites:
www.bleepingcomputer.com

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic70074.html
How to remove Virustbursters. Good luck.

PS..you need to carefully follow the instructions. It may take a while...but their removal instructions usually do work. I removed Virtumonde..which was in my machine a while ago and it worked very well.

Well please explain what is Virusbusters?

↓ A virus
↓ Anti-virus software
↓ Cookie
↓ Spyware
↓ Adware?

Norton seems to be the best solution at any case, other programmes are a bonus.

Tips:

Empty your Internet:

cookies
temporary files

And check for software updates
If it is a programme you installed:

Then open up your harddrive, look for the folder (correct one) and delete it.

The only way that works is to format your hard drive and do a fresh install of windows. However, this is absolutely guaranteed to work.
