What "I" mean by "slain in the spirit" is that some charlatan goes around pushing people on the forehead so that they fall down either as the result of some psychological crowd control technique or because of some demonic power or because they just want to be a part of the crowd. Here are the Scriptures that I used to reference this practice.

2 Timothy 4:3 For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, 4 and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.

2 Peter 2:1 But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. 2 And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. 3 And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.

No one in the Bible falls down backwards as a sign of God's favor. It's always in judgment or rebuke.

Here is the passage that the Scripture twisters try to use to justify this practice.

John 18:4 Then Jesus, knowing all that would happen to him, came forward and said to them, "Whom do you seek?" 5 They answered him, "Jesus of Nazareth." Jesus said to them, "I am he." Judas, who betrayed him, was standing with them. 6 When Jesus said to them, "I am he," they drew back and fell to the ground.

Slain contained in the spirit signifies that the fellow has experienced a profound journey with God the Holy Spirit. it may render the fellow unable to bypass for a time. there's a distinction between being spirit-filled, slain and anointed. once you're anointed, you're set aside or ordained with the aid of God for a particular purpose. An celebration might want to be at the same time as Samuel anointed David as king at God's direction. Being spirit-filled is truly being indwelled with the aid of God the Holy Spirit. This in many situations takes position after baptism with the aid of immersion.

If you understand the force in the Bible and the Power, then you know that spirit is a live-matter that of which we cannot see, and slain means destroyed. Destroyed Matter.

To be knocked out or to be knocked down by the supernatural power of God. Which is also to be under the influence of the Holy Ghost. God is three persons, the blessed trinity! Just like the sun that sets in the sky, God is. And the light that comes from the Sun is the Son (Jesus Christ), and the rays that warms us and provides us with energy is the power of God who is the Holy Spirit. In Acts 9:1-6, you will find that it is biblical for one to be rendered powerless by the mighty hand of God. In these passages you will see God, in three persons, at work. There's no Bible reference for it. Its a fairly new practice of some of the charasmatic denominations. I dont understand how they think they're "slain" but they believe they get knocked down by the Holy Spirit. I am a Christian and an avid Bible reader and there is no reference to this in the Bible.

It's an emotional experience, practiced in the Pentecostal churches. People go to the front for prayer (sometimes in a healing service) and when the preacher touches their forehead, they faint. If you watch Benny Hinn's show, you will see it happen all the time.

Attached is more information, with some bible verses.

They can't give bible referances to it because there is no such evidence. As an ordained minister who has read the whole bible I can tell you it's not there. No where in the bible does this silliness occur.Again I say the phrase "slain in the spirit" is no in there.

I am also a Christian and a pentacostal one at that, but I can't find any biblical reference to it either. I have gone up front to be "slain in the spirit" but it didn't work for me. The pastor just ended up pushing on my forehead until I ended up pinned up against the wall. I once asked a Christian friend of mine who believed it is of God where in the bible it mentions it and she said when the guards came to arrest Jesus and he said,"Whom do you seek?" And they said, "Jesus of Nazareth," and He said, "I am He," and they fell backwards, that's an example of it. I said to her that was a bad thing that God did to them because they were trying to arrest Jesus, not a good thing, not the Holy Spirit filling them so much that they fainted! So I don't get it either. I honestly don't know whether it is of God or not.

It is a dangerous belief. There is no references in scripture which call for such a practice. The Holy Spirit will not suscribe to such a practice, nor does He produce such.

slain in the spirit means to go under the power of god. the presence of god comes upon you in such a way that you cant stand and you are on the floor. saul who became paul in the bible was on the way to damascus to kill the christians and the presence of god came upon him to stop him and he was slain in the spirit on the road. god had also taken his sight and paul was led away to the street called straight. he fasted three days and ananias came and prayed for him and he could see again.it is the presence of god. the anointing.
