HE'S got the whole world in HIS Right Hand's (Yad). and also as a play on words means memorial. and if there were two hands, it would be a yad be yad (hand in Hand). many trinkets and jewelry are a reminder of G-D. some of which were thought to keep demons and evil spirits away from them.

It is a "Hamsha" (Yad Miriam)!

Hamsahs (Middle Eastern hand-shaped ornaments against the evil eye) are very common in the culture of the Sephardi Jews, Mizrahi Jews and the Jews who live in Israel. Sometimes it is shaped as a combination of the two hands (a hand with two thumbs), and sometimes like a real hand.
This symbol is attributed a lot of power by both Judaism and Islam of the Middle East, although it was probably originated from far more ancient cultures.
