Age is a personal choice. I think that about 4 to 5 years age difference max (the man should be older than the woman) works best while married. If the age difference is too much, it starts to become a parent/ child relationship.

My husband is 6 years older than I am. I have a cousin whose husband is 10 years older than she is. I think it all depends upon maturity & responsibility & having enough in common to keep you from getting bored with each other. Not so much of an age gap that you look ridiculous together.

As age increases, the age gap concern is not as important.
Let's say an 17 year old with a 12 year old may appear strange, however a 40 year old with a 35 seems okay.

As long as two people are over 18, age is unimportant.
