Your question is too vague.

If you want someone to help you with a computer problem, you have to give us more to go on than a blue thing covering the words.

In Microsoft Windows, there are labels and pop-up windows that should be able to help you give a little more information.

For example, what do you mean by "when I select something"? Did you go down to the START button and select a choice from the pull up menu? If so, what was the thing you selected?

Also, when you say that a blue thing used to cover up the words. It sounds to me like you had a program you were able to click on in your menu and it used to open up a blue window which covered up other windows. If it does not open up anymore, it will usually give you an error telling you why.

My suggestion is that you look in your local newspaper for any schools or computer clubs, and try to find out if any offer basic computing classes for people who are not familiar with PCs or with the Windows operating system. They can help you get familiar with the computer, the programs loaded on that computer, and help you get the terminology down.

Perhaps after that you will have your answer and will not even need this question answered. ;-)
