Tooth loss question: 1 friend says that the tooth that came out will require me to have the rest pulled out and then dentures, another says not true, that just because one decayed, the rest can probably be saved. Anyone have experience with this here, I am extremely fearful of dentist, this tooth came out a year ago, the one next to it, the top broke off today, now I'm getting freaked out, I have no dental insurance and am worried about not only finding a good dentist but one who will take pymts.

First off, you won't have to have all your teeth pulled..

Second, you should obviously take better care of your teeth if they're rotting and falling out.

Third, it'd probably be better if you got them pulled an wore dentures if all your teeth are rotting.

Fourth, don't take offence.

Okay, I can only tell you this. I had a couple of teeth pulled about 5 years ago, and the tooth on each side of each tooth that I lost, went bad. The reason for this, is because there was nothing to support those teeth. It didn't matter that I got a partial, in fact it made matters worse, because that's temporary. I am not a dentist, just a person who has gone through hell with my teeth. I now have dentures because of that whole scenario! That doesn't mean "you" will, but I would call a dentist who "can" tell you more facts about it, okay? Good-luck.

Trust me i just had 3 teeth pulled on Thursday and i have to have a bridge put in there are many things that they can do before dentures. Also i would look into buying a dental plan they are appx 30 to 40 dollars a m onth and defray a great deal of the expense but as for what may be left most dental offices have Loan programs that you can then pay monthly.. Hope all this helped you.. Oh yeah i used to hate Dentists also but i now have a good one and i don't mind it qute so much,

I had a tooth pulled 30 yrs. ago before implants were a reality and did not want to cut down the 2 good teeth next to the missing which is needed for a bridge. Now with implants I have been told that the bone (Jawbone) below the missing tooth has decreased in size making an implant not possible without a bone graft to make up the missing bone needed for a post implant. All for big bucks. With your next to the missing tooth chipped and already needing a cap you should just spend the extra and get a bridge to fill in for your missing tooth. Take care of the other teeth with regular care for they are all you get in life. good luck

Not having dental insurance isn't a big concern. Most Dental Insurance companies only give you a maximum of 1,500-2,000 a year.. depending on the company.. $1,500 worth of dental insurance does not cover very much if you have alot of work to be in your mouth.. But to get back to your question. If one tooth decayed and had to be pulled - that does not mean all of your teeth have to be pulled.. If you see your dentist every six months for a cleaning and check up - he/she can monitor all of your teeth.. Check into Care Credit - Its a credit card for medical/dental.. most dentists do not take payment plans..Good Luck!

Your friend is nuts. Get some dental insurance. It costs about $35. per month. Then go to a dentist. Nowadays with all of the improvements in dentistry you should not have any problems. The dentist wants you back. He doesnt want to hurt you. Explain your fears. He will help you. Painless dentistry is now the rule. Not the exception.

It isn't cheap but, my daughter lost 3 upper front teeth.
(Hit in the mouth with a ball)

First they tried implants but that didn't work out.

Then they put in a permanent bridge.

I don't want to scare you so I won't say what it cost.
Actually I never added it all up any way.
