The expected 90% casualty rate for the invasion was eliminated, and rebuilding was able to get away much more quickly than in Europe. Most people were not aware until years later that both Germany and Japan were close to having one to use on us.

First,Wow! that was bigger than we expected,then shock that the Japanese didnt want to surrender still,so we hit Nagasaki and they then knew it was hopeless to resist peace and unconditional surrender
