Why do a lot of Asian restaurants use MSG(monosodium glutamate)?

It is like if they don't use MSG, no body will come in to their restaurants. I always get headache from eating MSG food.

A lot of people are allergic to MSG. But it is a popular flavor enhancer. Kind of like salt, it brings out the flavor in food. It's very cheap and a little bit goes a long way. It's not just in asian food, it's actually in a lot of food you buy. Read the lables of things like soup broths.

I get migraines from MSG as well.It is a sodium that gets absorbed through your tongue and goes directly to the brain , telling it that the food in your mouth tastes wonderful. When in fact it does not! That is why large food producers use it in canned foods. Cambells soups are loaded with it, most chicken products that are breaded and fried have it. McDonalds has it in most of their food. Mexican sauces that come from restaurants seem to have it also. Check ingredients and ask for MSG free food when you eat at chinese places. Good luck

I don't get why some people have such a problem. Mainly because asian eat a lot of foods that have it naturally for example seaweed has loads of it naturally. When you stew spare ribs..bones it naturally comes out.
