Not like them because they are illegal or because they are immigrating to this great country? Do you feel that because they have a native toungue they do not want to enjoy our culture (or language)? Or is it because you do not like people with a different color of skin? I ask because I see many people on here that do not seem to like any immigration at all (Illegal or not) and want to see if maybe I am taking it in all wrong.

Please I am being serious, so please only serious answers!!!!!!

It is the ILLEGAL part that I do not like. In the last year over 120 different nationalities were apprehended by the United States Customs and Border Protection. So that blows your whole racist aspect. These ILLEGAL aliens feed off of the U.S. Government in the form of welfare and medical care. They smuggle drugs and humans into this country to make a buck. The drug smuggler are providing poison to our school children. They are also murdering law enforcement officials in record numbers. I have attended entirely too many funerals for Border Patrol, Customs, Police Officers and Sheriffs deputy's due to ILLEGAL aliens.

First of all, our country was built on immigrants. The blacks were brought over by the slave trade. Latinos have been coming since the Spanish conquered most of Central and South America. Asians have been coming here since the mid-1800's.

However, that all changed when America finally instituted laws restricting immigration (Immigration Act of 1924). Since then, there has been a quota based on a percentage of the number of current residents from the latest census. Right or wrong, that is the law we have and is the law that should be followed.

While I have no problem with illegal immigrants being here to work, I do have a problem with them being here to collect welfare. Welfare is meant for citizens, not non-citizens. What if I tried to go to Mexico and collect on their welfare system? They'd laugh at me. So why do they come here and EXPECT to get our welfare? Come here, work hard, keep your nose clean, and all the greatness of our country is open to you. But get lazy or get in trouble, and we're gonna send your butt back to where you came, because if you're just gonna break our laws or collect our welfare, you can rot in your own country's jail, or collect your own country's welfare, instead of ours.

BTW, I'm Korean, and came here legally (I was adopted by American parents). If I can get here legally, so can everyone else...

Illegal is illegal, simple as that. It should not matter what color or size or religion you are or embrace.
My mother was born in Quebec, Canada and did not speak English as a child. My father met her in Quebec, they courted for some time until proper arrangements were made for marriage and her living "legally" in the USA. There is a protocol to be followed. It is what makes things civil. Believe me when I tell you my mother suffered ridicule because of her accent and the fact that she was french. By the way, she learned to speak English in 4 months time when arriving in the USA. Funny that many Americans still poke fun of the French although they helped us win the Revolutionary War with the assist of the French Navy and I believe that France built and presented us with the Statue of Liberty. So, I fell your pain when you ask this question but, right is right and wrong is wrong. Follow the protocol when trying to become an American citizen and what a difference it could make on public understanding of immigration.

Of course this is just my opinion

OK I will be frank when I say this, if you break the law, you have to expect consequences. I am against the ACT of illegal immigration for the sole reason that it makes a mockery of the whole concept of law and order (not just the laws of one sovereign country, but all laws). I am not against the PERSONS of illegal immigrants.

I have no problems with people who wish to speak in their native tongue... I have problems with the scum who insist on others to learn their language without learning the language of the new country they are (in less forgiving countries that is called treason and arrogance). I have no problems with culture too, the whole idea of culture should be irrelevant to this issue.

I do not care whether you are brown, white, black, yellow or even green... you break the law you do not get my sympathy or my mercy. The color of skin means absolutely nothing when brought against law or logic.

Of course... I only speak for myself when I say this. I only represent myself whenever I speak/type out here,

Let's look at the whole topic realistically for a sec. People immigrate to America for what reason generally? Because the are in seek of financial opportunities that they are not offered back home. Not to hard to understand.
Now the racist here want to say, "it's ok if they want to come over here legally." Why do they say it that way(other than it being the polically correct way to be racist)? Because let's think about that. If a person has the means to pay hundreds or even thousands of dollars to the immigration system then they wouldn't come over here in the first place.
So don't let the racist convince you that "legal vs illegal" is the topic. The fact is no one who CAN come over here legally would want to because they don't need to improve their financial well-being.
Luckily we are in America where even though some people are ignorant and egotistical, the majority of the country is willing to share the great bounty of this land with others who are willing to be humble and giving.

have immergrants come to this country is what America is. Its what its based on. Ever since the English.. and thats fine and ok with a lot of people. but its true that many people do not like change since this country was born with english many people would like it to stay that way, English should be the native tonge... so Illegals should get out and apply for citizenship like everyone else... Thats just the way of it. immergrants are fine , illegals are not. simple as that.
and i agree with the guy above me. If you wanna live somewhere nice. clean and respectfull go to the uk!

I personally do not have a problem with immigration to the US. I do feel that if you are illegal, then you do not belong in this country. That is just a moral decision, Illegal is just that, and I don't agree with it. The only problem that I have with legal immigrants is their language. If I moved to another country, I would make sure that I could speak their language. I don't think it is fair that americans have to try to learn their language, or understand their broken english. I am talking about in the work place, if they want to talk in their native tongue at home, that is fine. I deal with alot of spanish speaking employees, and it is hard to get work done when they do not understand me, and I cannot understand them. Other than that, I have no problems with immigration.

Legal or not, immigrants that have been flowing into this Country has escaladed into a fiery storm.
When President Jimmy Carter back in 82 signed a bill that allowed Cuba descendents to come to the United States to be with their families, Castro sent all his bad people that stayed in his jails and he emptied them out and put them on boats and sent them to the U.S. with little food and water and they arrived totalling over 25,000 more than what was allowed by the bill that Carter signed, but since carter did sign the bill, the U.S. had to screen them all for possible green cards and found it was a big mess and riots broke out in Miami as a result and nobody was sent back to Cuba. They are all here on American soil with Felonies that stretch from here to timbucktoo.

Now Mexico becomes a problem and they continue to cross the border coming to the States and American business owners and Farmers hire them for small wages less than minimum wage required by U.S. law and get away with it causing our economy to stiffen and the private sector becomes inflammed with hell that has not stopped yet.

There is no easy solution to the problem except to slow down the damage and that will not work either.

The New Mexico State is about as close as it comes and Mexico will not allow our Governemnt to run their Country and it is useless to even try.

So now you have a vandetta against Mexican illegals and immigrants that want to claim asylum in the U.S. are worse off now then it was 20 years ago.

The problem is here to stay until Mexico becomes a State and that will never happen.

Our economical standards are torn and ripped apart and the only way is to raise taxes and put more strict rules on businesses in the small sector causing the big company;s to close out and open their business overseas and get rich with fewer restrictions on wage, unemployment comp and workers comoensation that hardly exhists. So America gets the shaft and the business owners get rich overseas is that right?

What about American's wanting to work here on our soil??, but because Congress keeps putting the pressure on large organizations...they layoff, close and move off the U.S soil and get rich else where and save literally millions of dollars and none of that money goes into our Federal Reserve and our deficit continues to climb with hope for a future resolution and then Iraq war starts ands 9/11 starts and here again the U.S spends over 90 billion dollars a week on this stupid War that is costing Americans an arm and leg and Bush knows this and ignores it saying raising taxes will get it payed back to the treasury and I laugh still today...it's a joke.
We are doomed.

It has nothing to do with the color of their skin or the language they speak.

It is about the fact that we pay taxes for the services our country and communities provide. They don't contribute but use our services.

Like the hospitals just in the news that most of their patients are non-paying illegal immigrants. So we struggle and spend years paying high hospital bills because our cost must cover the non-payers.

Our forefathers fought to make our country what it is today. Now these people need to do the same for their country instead of running over here to take advantage of what our fathers worked, and died, for.

I don't mind immigrants if they adapt. You people who say its racist obviously don't live in Texas. It is practically Mexico down here. I don't mind immigrants but when we have so many that they overshadow our culture it needs to slow down. In some parts of Houston they don't even bother writing signs in English anymore....that isn't a good thing. It isn't about skin color. If we were next to Germany I wouldn't want any German just wandering in whenever they feel like it to impose their language and customs upon us. The important thing is that America culture is preserved.
