die if you have strep throat??

Strep throat won't kill you, but it sometimes spreads beyond the throat, and then it can be pretty serious. A small proportion of strep infections end up as rheumatic fever that can permanently damage the heart valves and really shorten your lifespan. Also, some strep bacteria have become resistant to antibiotics, and they can cause a fatal illness similar to toxic shock, but this is very rare.

Untreated Strep A infections can lead to rheumatic fever and post streptococcal glomerulonephritis, a nasty, nasty kidney infection that can lead to organ failure. If you think you have strep, get tested and treated. A really cheap course of antibiotics will do the trick.

It could be very serious if not treated with antibiotics.
