I know alot of people try to justify their reasons for judging others. But we are commanded to do it in Meekness and not arrogant slander. Slander is a tool of Evil! Not Good! We are commanded to bridle the toungue. Jesus did not say when someone makes a mistake to make fun of them! Mockery is evil! And I left the church because I didn't like the way that some would make fun of the mentally ill and disabled. And some churches are loosing alot of members for this reason! It shows that it is not productive! And I don't think that just because someone is a Pastor or preacher that they are invincible! But alot of them seem to think this way! They think that they can judge others but if you judge them; Whoa! Look out! That bolt of lightining will hit you any minute now! You can dish it out! But you can't take it! Hey! Kind words never did any harm! Ever think of trying to encourage someone? Slander is not so encouraging!

I'm glad that you addressed this issue because I understand what you mean by gossip in the church gone too far. We are suspose to be sisters and brothers in Christ, who gives people the right to talk about someone, like they are perfect. People are serious leaving churches because of this mess. We need to love one another, this world is so full of cruel and evil. Like you mentioned Kind and gentle words won't harm.

Slander is telling a falsehood. If I persecute, say, Islamics over Ayisha that's not slader. They admit to this. That's simply rubbing pedophila in their faces, although they retort and say they didn't view it that way 2,000 years ago, which is a valid point, but still doesn't justify PRAISING someone who does little girls. And I don't view that as slander.

Now, to me as a believe in God and Jesus, saying JESUS is just a prophet and was not crucified on the cross but was replaced with a double is verging on a SLANDEROUS statement. I'm the one who should feel offended.

To me the Quran makes DANGEROUS accusations against the Jesus Christians know and love, but the Holy Bible say absolutely NOTHING against Allah or Muhammad on a personal basis.

Furthermore, to me Atheist SKY DADDY remarks verge on SLANDEROUS.

Saying the Bible is Fiction verges on SLANDEROUS.

To me as a Christian I would never say the Ghita or Quran is fiction. These books WERE written by someone as a documentation of their system and I will not deny that.

I may not agree with their contents, but I won't insult a Hindu or Islamic and say they read a fiction book. It's as real to them as my books are to me.

I was generally turned off of going to church when I would be almost run down by early-leaving parishioners who couldn't wait to get out of the parking lot first. And they were generally the same people or type of people who are the first to judge and mock others. Aren't Christians supposed to be accepting and non-judgemental of things different, so long as those things are not hurtful to anyone? It doesn't appear so. So I don't bother going to church and subjecting myself to those hypocrites. I worship in my own way. Since God is everywhere, I don't have to go to a building where certain others make my worshiping experience unpleasant and tainted. So that's that.

Religion is all about judging, even when they deny it and say it is a bad thing. They like to split hairs by saying "Judge the sin, not the sinner", but that's really just word games. The reason they say that is because they see everything in black and white. They have no room for judging aspects of people without judging other aspects differently. They'd rather just call something totally evil or totally good. That's why they came up with their "Be saved or burn in Hell" philosophy. They promote the idea that even if you do a misdemeanor, you'll burn in Hell forever. Again, the black and white attitude. Even that's not good enough for them. They say you're tainted by sin before you're even born.

It's a really sad outlook on life.

I agree with you. I remember talking to a woman who said didn't go to church a few years ago. I couldn't understand then how someone could be so against the church but after having some experiences of my own I understand why people don't want to be bothered with the church or church people. I'm in in no way perfect and I flip out from time to time. But I never act like I'm perfect or like I'm faultless. The people in church have to begin to realize that they are running people who have so many gifts and talents out of the church and at the same time the world sees them as hypocrites.

Actually, any gossip in the church has gone to far. Paul reserves some of his strongest rebukes for gossips.

"They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed, and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, quarreling, deceit, and viciousness. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, haughty, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to their parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Although they know God's just requirement-that those who practice such things deserve to die-they not only do these things but even applaud others who practice them." (Romans 1:29-32)

"I am afraid that I may come and somehow find you not as I want to find you, and that you may find me not as you want to find me. Perhaps there will be quarreling, jealousy, angry feelings, selfishness, slander, gossip, arrogance, and disorderly conduct." (II Corinthians 12:20)

"At the same time, they also learn how to be lazy while going from house to house. Not only this, but they even become gossips and keep busy by interfering in other people's lives, saying things they should not say." (I Timothy 5:13)

"Likewise, older women are to show their reverence for God by their behavior. They are not to be gossips or addicted to alcohol, but to be examples of goodness." (Titus 2:3)

yes, look at scripture

Corinthians I 3:3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

Corinthians I 11:18 For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.
Corinthians I 11:19 For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.

Leviticus 19:16 Thou shalt not go up and down as a talebearer among thy people: neither shalt thou stand against the blood of thy neighbour: I am the LORD.

Proverbs 16:28 A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.

Proverbs 20:19 He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.

whispers = Romans 1:29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
Corinthians II 12:20 For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults:
