It is for a female co worker, she's a mom, in her 30's and has a child. We agreed at a price of 10 dollars but I am willing to spend 20 to make it somewhat good

Why not a gift certificate for a pedicure??? Relaxing, fun, and likely not something she buys for herself on a regular basis!

Try looking around her cubicle or work area to get an idea of what she might b interested in (most ppl hv lil knick-knacks n such on their desk) Or ask other co-workers who r closer to her. Whatever u pick, just b sure to include the gift receipt so she can exchange it if she decided to do so. If not, I'd suggest a gift card from Wally World, Target or one from American Express that can b used anywhere.

It is not very exciting but I have found the easiest gifts are 'gift cards'. You can get them almost anywhere nowadays and can put whatever amount of money you want on it. If she likes, or would like , bath products get one at Bath and Beyond. If she looks like she needs help with gas get a gas card. This way the recipient can actually get something they can use instead of just taking it back later. Good luck.

Well. . . .perhaps a nice scarf or some candles from a good shop in your area ( Yankee Candle or something similar). . .Or a gift basket. I, personally, think bath and body baskets are a little over done, but those are always good if you really don't know anything else . . .Could always get a gift card for something like gas, or even for her to have a manicure. . .Things she'll either NEED or perhaps something she wouldn't normally spend on herself!

I think something like a pass to the movie theatre and gift certificate for popcorn and drinks. Gift certificate to her favorite restaurant and you offer to baby sit for a couple hours while she goes. A box of Godiva chocolate, or similarly sinful brand of her favorite snack. Try and listen to things that she comments about that she would like to have or do, but doesn't because of her child. Something simple can go a long way, if it's something she normally doesn't indulge in.
Be careful with the smelly candles and bubble baths; I've recieved hundreds of these and I hate them for two reasons. (1)They cry out "I don't know what you like but you're a girl so I assume you like these things". (2) I'm terribly allergic to perfumes, and anyone who truly knows me knows that I immediately return perfumed products to the store because I don't like having hives. So just make sure she actually likes scented candles and bath oils before you get them.

A few suggestions:

A basket for tea or coffee drinkers: a mug, bags of tea (flavored or types like Earl Grey, English Breakfast, etc). You could also include coffee bags or a small jar of instant coffee. Maybe include some shortbread cookies.

A basket for movie lovers: microwave popcorn bags, theater goodies like chocolate or licorice. Also a certificate for a DVD or video from Blockbuster or a local video rental.

A pampered basket: bubble bath or shower gel, a lofa sponge, and a nice bottle of lotion.

How are these ideas?

There have been some really good suggestions, I personally feel that a gift card or gas card might be your best bet, especially if you don't know the person really well. Good luck and have fun!

Small stuff like Cd's and Scented candles are good in that price range. As for gift wrapping, I'm sure you could ask the store you're buying from to gift wrap it for you. most are happy to do that if you ask.

I may would get something for bath time, if she is a mom she would enjoy the one time her kids are in bed and she can soak!

Or maybe a candle, every woman likes candles. I would choose something not Christmas, seems people do that without thinking you are giving it to them when Christmas is almost over :) Good Luck.. let us know what you choose

Gift certificate for your local departmental store. She can use it to pick out anything she likes. I'm just speaking for myself, but if someone gave me candles or aromatic oils or fancy bath soaps, I wouldn't use them, but would just put them up for display or re-use the gift for next Xmas depending on how nice they look.
