I was wondering { i still have a year and a half to go} because im looking at cars and i dont want to make a wrong choice. So,What type of car is the safest car for a teen just starting to drive?

if you check www.iihs.org, they picked 13 of the safest cars. the top 13 cars have good ratings in frontal impact (40 mph), side impact (31 mph), and rear impact (30 mph), and they all have ESC (electronic stability control) which can reduce the chance of a car accident by 30%. one car that they don't have listed there however is the honda civic. the honda civic and subaru legacy have ESC optionally only 2007 models and later.

Used....it doesnt matter how responsible or wonderful your teen is. Mysterious dents, dings and scratches appear magically. Plus it saves money on insurance. Check out www.nhtsa.gov and then pick the ones that rate high, but are not too horrid on the "Oh my God, thats a old man car" meter. Have your teen a little involved and that will go a long way. if you really want a safe car its going to cost you more in gas but safe i would say an suv, or something like a ford tauras, or a toyota camery.
