This is really two questions, 1) Is it legal, 2) If it is legal, is it right.
The answer to "Is it legal" is going to depend on the state. (Yeah, we all know about the redneck states where it's illegal unless the 16 yr old is your sister! :)!) Many states have detailed statutes in and around the 14-18 year ages that allow a degree of latitude for those older. For instance, a 17 yr old going with a 19 year old may be legal, but a 17 yr old going with a 40 year old illegal. Likewise a 14 yr old going with a 16 yr old might be legal but a 14 yr old going with anyone over 18 would be illegal.
In at least one state, a 16 yr old can go out with anyone they want except those in positions of authority, such as teachers, doctors, police etc. (It is, of coarse, the person in the position of authority that is held accountable.)
Question #2 is very subjective concerning the 19 year old and the 16 year old. First of all, if it's illegal in your state, it's wrong and the 19 year old can be criminally prosecuted. Secondly, if it's legal, there are many other factors. Did the 19 year old turn 19 today, and the 16 year old will be 17 tomorrow? What is the relative maturity. Is the 16 yr old, dispite his looks, mature beyond his years, or is he as mature as he looks. I think that is where parental intervention should occur to help decide such issues, and the 16 yr old must remember, he is still a kid whether he wants to believe it or not.

If you are 19, I think it is ok to date a 16 year old, but you also must realize that she is younger than you, and may not be ready for a physical relationship. A 3 year difference is not that big, but it is big enough to cause issues depending on the girl. I would suggest talking to her about all of your concerns before you jump into anything.

A 3 year gap isn't a lot! If you're both mature enough for a relationship and practice safe sex, then there's no harm. I went out with a 22 year old when I was 16.

no a19 year cant date a 16 year old.Maybe the 19 year old should want until the 16 year old is 18 years old. Maybe by then you both will know if you really liked each other.

Leagaly no. But if you sneak around like I did you can. It's a very bad idea though and it will more than likely turn out badly. No matter how much on loves the other. I was 15 and he was 20 and things got bad. Not because of he or I but because we had to sneak around and that put a huge strain on our relationship.

Yeah, depends on the parents. That's the age my husband and I were when we started dating. We've been married 17 years now.

In the UK it's quite legal, even for them to have sex, but ONLY if they're a hetero couple. Gay males both have to be 18+

well in my opinion go for it, you see many older people dating younger perole (being our parents age) i think that it doesnt matter as long as the 2 people love eachother, whats the difference between older people above the age of 30 doing it and younger people, nothing...
good luck
