depends on how good your stuff is...
my advice is to do a cover but totally change the sound of it, get really creative so people dont know what song it is until they here the lyrics.

Judges are more impressed by originality. Just make sure it's a damn good song or your gonna fall flat on your face. They can be merciless critics. Play it for your friends, get some feedback before you decide.

Just do what you do best. If your nervous or unsure, go ask another musician or performer, one who has had more experience and maybe even perform for this person and ask for an honest opinion.
