From an old racer wax before every race day, and after about every two or three practices. Sharpen your skis when you feel they need it. I usually did it every other race, or if the conditions were going to be icy. Good luck, you will love racing, its the best.

Wax definately before every race. Depending on your location and conditions, the edges may need attention. In the east, where hard, icy ruts form quickly, you will probably need to tune your edges before every race as well.

I grew up racing in Utah. I didn't have to shapen my edges a lot ( every few races) but yeah wax those bad boys up before every race.
good luck man
