Medicaid is for the indigent, those who are economically challenged to support the medical costs and need help to meet these needs. It is financial help from the Government in the form of medical expense paid when you apply for it at the Human Resources and meet the criteria for low income. If you do, you receive a card/letter every month and thus, you show and use this when you go to the medical facilities and have tests done, and it is paid for. If you have medicaid as a second insurance then the other insurance you have gets taken out first and the medicaid pays what is left to pay.

Medicaid is the US health insurance program for individuals and families with low incomes and resources. It is jointly funded by the states and federal government, and is managed by the states. Among the groups of people served by Medicaid are eligible low-income parents, children, seniors, and people with disabilities. Medicaid is the largest source of funding for medical and health-related services for people with limited income.

medicaid is where you can't efford insurence "like on the car for example"...... it covers you if you are 21 and younger. if you have a child and you have medicaid then your child automatically insured through you. it helps you out when you can't pay the "coe" pay for the doctors visits.
hope this helps.
