OMG..LMAO I wish I could award you points for this question, because this is about the funniest one I have ever read.
Yes dear, I am sure he is just picking with you. if not, then he needs to get out of the closet, and you find someone who does not want an engagement ring.

I think he is just kidding. I have heard of husbands wearing wedding rings, but I have never heard of husbands wearing engagement rings.
If you end up buying him one, then after you are married, he has to wear the engagement ring nearest his heart and put the wedding ring on after it.

Don't assume that he is joking for he could really be serious about how he perceives your relationship should be. If he feels that you should provide the engagement rings then see what other “rules” he feels will change once you get married. Joke or No jokes discuss what changes he expects to happen in your relationship.

There are no rules except the ones the two of you agree on. Was true in 2005 too.

Who asked? If he's asking you, HE should buy the ring. Why can't he give you a ring? If it's because he doesn't have enough money, that's understandable. But if he's trying to do this just because he doesn't want to spend the money, or doesn't want to go through effort, or doesn't want to really marry you, then it's being ridiculous.

My fiance is very irritated that he doesn't get a ring. Our compromise was that he gets to walk down the aisle to the music of his choice. He thinks the wedding should be about both of us, not just me. I agree. He is also being a perfect 50/50 partner in planning our wedding, which has its ups and downs. :)

Of course he is, but... if you don't buy hm one, and he says, "Why won't you say 'obey' in the wedding vows?" you won't get away with the excuse that tradition means nothing.
haha
Start a new tradition. Get him one. You can even tell him that now HE has to say "obey" in the vows, because you did!
Thanks for making me smile. I had fun with this one.
Best of luck to you both!!!

Did you ask him to marry you? I've always thought the person who proposes marriage should offer the ring.

I suggest you consult your boyfriend as we do not know the context of the situation nor the manner he said it in.
