i've been eating junk food and fast food like everyday but i cant. i'm also working out and drinking protein shakes but i am still skinny. my ribs show (a little bit) and i weigh 116 and im 5'5" and im a guy. and just in case...yes i really do want to gain weight so if you have any tips, i would really appreciate it.

ohmygosh...
Well.... eating a lot of junk food to get bigger is NOT healthy. Have you gone to the Doctor for this? It sounds like you might have a tapeworm...

When I was in my teens and twenties, I was always underweight and my ribs showed too.

Well I got into my thirties and suddenly I put the weight on. I went from around 150 pounds to around 210. I'm still around 210 now, and not getting any larger thankfully.

I'd try to be happy with how you are to be honest, although I do understand where you're coming from.

Eating junk food is never a good idea, as although you might be a little underweight, the excess fat, salt and sugar in junk food will, in the long run do you more harm than good, and could give your problems in later life.

Also it means you're not getting a balanced diet that way, which is important for all of us. Try eating more lean meat, and plenty of vegetables. You've probably just got a high metabolism right now.

Im in the same situation as you. I am 5"11 and weigh 140 pounds. I used to weigh alot less, but I still want to gain 15 pounds to be a little under average (for my height the weight is about 175). I pushed myself to eat more than I usually do and I gained a little.

I was like you when I was a kid, stuffed my face to gain weight.........then had to battle to lose it and have been at war with my weight ever since. Enjoy it while you can, being able to eat anything without getting fat. In time it will catch up with you and you will join the rest of the world forever battling the bulge.
I know that is hard to imagine right now.
For now, eat a good balanced diet with plenty of protein and start weight training to build muscle. Don't abuse your body by putting garbage food into it.

If you mean gaining weight as in...like not muscle, then don't exercise. You don't have to eat only fast food and junk food, just eat food with more calories and such. Make sure you do drink water though, and have atleast one healthy type food a day. Spend alot of your time dont doing anything physical. If you go completely phsyco with junk food and such, it wont be good at all, trust me.

ok maybe i can help you out a little bit. the first problem you have IS eating all the junk food. you need to get on a healthy diet. eat veggies, and pastas and things like that. if you eat a lot of junk food, you will have bad arteries. be healty about how you wanna gain weight.

Heres your problem, your doing the right thing.. eating alot of junk and crappy stuff, but you're working out and drinking protein. This makes it balanced out evenly. Stop working out until you gain enough weight, then work out, but still try to have a little bit of weight.

I work on building muscle more than eating junk food. Muscular looks good but fat doesn't. Maybe you could go to a gym and get a personal trainer to help you. Or ask your phys ed teacher for advice.

Just keep eating, but don't overdo it with the junk food, because you need healthy carbs to keep your body balanced. Also, you could ask a doctor, I'm sure they have solutions.

eat late at night like before u go to sleep. that way no energy waste and store as fat then u will gain some weight
