Depends on the location, number of cattle, and length of grazing season. Some of the effects:

*amount of grasses and forbes avialable for wildlife is reduced - cows compete with native ungulates

* cows spread seed of non-native plants in their manure

* Cows sometimes cuase formation of dirt trails that cause erosion that ends up as sediment in streams

* grazing causes a shift in the species composition of plant communities toward plants that cows don't like to eat

* cows congregate in shaded areas and streamside zones, which kills man of the plants and destroys streambanks

* cows provide blood source for biting insects, which can boost the insect populations
