My husband wants me to make hickory nut cake for Christmas because it was a tradition in his family when he was young.

Hickory trees. If you live in the right parts of the country you just go pick them up under the trees. I don't think I have ever seen hickory nuts for sale.
LOL I just checked on Ebay. You can buy fresh hickory nuts on Ebay. LOL
Word to the wise buy the ones already shelled. Hickory nuts can have worms in them and you don't know it till the worms eat thier way out of the nut.

Go to www.freecycle.org and see if they have any there. That site is 100% free. All you have to do is go there and reg. and then go to the one that is closes one to you and ask if there is anybody there that has any hickory nuts. If you go there and don't know what to do or where to go, let me know and I will help you with it.

you husband should know where to find them if he unto eat them. you may try the grocery or the Forrest if the squirrels have not already eaten them all
