When relatives or family members take a bight out of or drink something of mine, I feel sick, and they call me a baby
Whenever I pack away dishes, I'm constently feeling and looking at them, and if it's dirty I throw it back in the sink, and my parents growl me.
I won't use plates and glasses that havn't been taken straight out of the cupboard, and parents always try to insist that they're clean
Mum's always growling at me for only using clean tea towels and cups instead of using used ones.
I don't like doing mucky jobs and getting my hands dirty

is being this much of a hygene freak okay, even around trusted family members? If so, how can I convince them otherwise? If not, what can I do to stop it?

I used to have similar problems, but I've gotten over it for the most part by making two key realizations:
1) I'm willing to eat something that I myself have taken a bite out of. That's really not much different than eating something someone else has taken a bite out of. Unless they're sick, what difference does it make?
2) Exposure to germs actually makes you more resistant to getting sick. By putting up with these disgusting things, you actually improve your immunity. Or if you do get sick, you have a valid excuse not to do it. It's a win-win situation.

I hope this helps and doesn't just make things worse. It worked for me, so I thought I'd put in my two cents. take care, and I wish you the best of appetites!

You don't sound too bad to me. I'm an RN, and I'm pretty picky about stuff. I mean, come on, so what if it's just your family. The flu is spread through family much more easily than with a stranger. Personally, I don't like the flu. Same way with the kitchen. If I didn't see it come out of the dishwasher or cupboard myself, I don't use it either. I change out my dishtowel every day, sometimes more often if I have been cooking raw meat(just in case). There's more issues I have, but I won't babble on. LOL

Just because they are your family, does not mean that you are immune from their germs. You can still get sick from them just like everyone else.

And I always wash a dish once it comes out of the cupboard or drawer, no matter if it looks used or not.
